Has anyone ever thought about trying the Iron Kingdoms RPG? I've been doing a lot of Warmachine-related reading lately and I'm starting to get into the fiction behind it (actually I tend to get into the fiction behind anything I play-lore issues were one of the contributing factors to why I quit WoW). I know we have some D&D players here...why not play something that can mesh with the games we already DO play?
Of course if we already DO play IK RPGs...get me in on it!!

The only thing relatively close to a board/book RPG or D&D style game I've ever played is a relic from the past called Hero Quest... However, I too am interested in giving this kinda thing a go so if you happen upon the book(s) or anyone else is interested, count me in (Tom D. here).

I have the character guide and monsternomicon. Sweet art stuff in both of them. I used them a bit, but not much. I'd play if there's interest.

Next week is Spring break, and I'm going home. We can try to something on the Sunday before we start again, or try for sometime during the week?

It would also be nice if we could get a fifth person. That would give us a basic party of four + someone to DM

I've run Iron Kingdoms d20 before. It's a fun time, although I've always felt that the d20 system holds it back a bit.
I'd definitely be up for playing or running a game. I could probably even host. Have one or two friends in the area that I've run for before who might be interested, as well.
I've got all the IK RPG books except for MN2, as well as the first dozen No Quarters and a decent sample of other d20 books.

I wasn't happy by how the book was presented in those pdf's I read from you Rios. I think they have been updated since then.

What about the books didn't you like?
The character guide is presented in a not-very-good-for-crunchy-play way. Stats are spread apart, not everything's where you'd expect. As an RP-heavy guide, though, I really like it. It's layed out in a way that makes it really easy to absorb the setting.
The IK isn't a very good setting for crunchy gaming. The firearms and magic restrictions have some balance issues, and some of the setting-specific factions are pretty weak at lower levels. And the costs for mechanika and firearms make money issues really clunky.
IKRPG really shouldn't have been written around d20, but, hey, that's what they did. Last time I ran it, we used a somewhat streamlined ruleset using some modifications from the DMG2 and just omitting a few things. It worked okay. I'd probably do roughly the same thing again if I ran it again.

Thats what I meant, it wasn't easy to read. Nor was it layed out that well in my opinion.
I don't know if I will be playing though. I am part of a DnD campaign currently and I will be starting my Star Wars campaign as soon as I get my NPC stats set up.

Well I'm certainly willing to give it a shot-NWN2 isn't really a good substitute for old-fashioned D20 goodness

well of course NWN2 isn't a good substitute play the original and the 8 or so expansion packs for it... that so called "sequel" isn't worthy of the Neverwinter Nights name.

So, can I get a show of hands of folks who'd be interested in playing an IKRPG game? What nights work best for you?
I'm free pretty much anytime other than Sundays. Saturday nights are iffy, but probably workable. Any weeknight is fine for me, though.
