So toying with the ideas with zombies this week, I had a cool thought. Kinda like the Zombies! game, the player would lead a kill-team of IG of some sort (or other army with dominately S3 guns) into the city, trying to find [insert idea] and achieve [insert idea] through a mini-campaign of KT missions.
I thought of using the Apoc zombies, just without a chaos lord until possibly the last mission or something. They'd get 15 goon squads, and always they would get the reinforcements special kit, to represent more being drawn to the sounds of combat.
I strongly advise IG or S3 guns because T2 and Feel No Pain is kinda useless otherwise. Plus it gets that desperate feel a little more.
Whatchyall think?

I like it...but what other armies primarily have S3 guns...

None...the problem. It's just so easy to kill them off. Plus, it _is_ just meant to represent humans vs zombies in 40k. Although, other races would be fu. See how they would do vs the zombie horde.

I like this idea; go against the human vs. zombies theme, but you could throw in (my) nids in the form of gaunts to supplement the zombies and throw in an occasional Monstrous Creature like a Melee oriented Carnifex who pops out randomly everytime the guard find whatever they're looking for?

I like... and I've been looking for a reason to paint up an Inquisitorial Stormtrooper squad...
Also, to deal with the "Oh dear, we have T2 and suxxor" this IS a special game, that you/we are making up. I say go ahead and modify their stat line. I'm remembering a thing in White Dwarf where they made a squad of space marines into "Movie Space Marines" where you could take a squad of 6 to 10 marines that were boosted so they could take on a whole army by themselves. Could soup up the zombies so that they move like beasts or have rending... maybe just have a few uber-zombies (say, D3x2) scattered randomly as one critter brute squads amidst the squads of lesser zombies. And have a never-ending tide thing going on with the lesser zombies so that, yeah, they die quick, but there's always more of them so they can potentially mob down a Space Marine or other stronger creature.

I agree, it's just a game so why not spice it up? Make Marines into the bad asses they really are in fluff, make zombies more zombie, etc... Heck while at it create something actually resembling a patrol with an Apothecary and a Sentinel or something. I really am just looking for excuses to field a CC Carnifex because I lack any decent single wound models for this type of scenario ^_^.

Egh...I don't think anything other than single wound models will cut it, for now. Nothing other than infantry, I'm afraid.
Well, our first four games testing were great fun! So far its Zombies-4, anything else-0. Striking Scorpions are S4, as are Shuriken Catapults and the like. Still they died! So far, the zombies have overrun everything. I will try some different rules next time. Once I finalize balance I'll "publish" it online here and other places so everyone can go nuts.

So everyone knows, Kill-team building rules:
Set 1 - 160 points - Only one codex - Only 1 wound models - No 2+ saves of any kind - Only one Heavy or Template weapon, not two, not both - Only upgrades from the unit entry - No bikes, jetbikes, or anti-grav platforms
Set 2 - Must be from the same unit entry - Must obey all normal restrictions barring minimum unit size (ie. only one squad champion) - Must number between 5 and 12 models - Only one model can have the option of choosing wargear - No weapon may have a strength of 8+
Set 1 must be obeyed; no exceptions! Set 2 rules may be broken, but for each one the zombies get an extra 10 pts of anti-you stuff.

so you're letting any and all races play, even if they have weapons that are greater than S3...

So if I understand the rules correctly, I could field 8 Gene Stealers at 20 points each (expanded carapace) OR 30 Gaunts with Flesh Borers with either choice consisting of only 1 squad? With regards to the gaunts btw would they be required to make leadership checks due to no synapse or does being a kill team change that?

Ian, yes, I'm letting all races play now. When it appeared that even a team of Striking Scorpions was slaughtered, the door was opened.
It is, however, the most fun bar none with an Imperial Guard Stormtrooper Squad.
All Kill-teams are fearless. You can have only one squad in total. However, you may freely mix models from units, say genestealers and gaunts together. I tried putting in a single Grey Knight in the IG Kill-team, and it was fun. Both units are in the Daemonhunters Codex, btw, so all was legal.

Sweet I didn't know that now I can kit out some gene stealers with a sything talons + expanded carapace biomorphs and toss in a dozen gaunts to take care of the shooting ;D I would like to have a go with a kill team vs. zombies next thursday assuming you guys will show up given finals are annoying...

Two words... Sisters Repentia *gibbers*
but on a more fun note... I think popping an Arco Flaggelant or two into a squad of Storm troopers would be fun, but the question is, do I still need a priest, because they're two wound models and are required for the Arco Flaggelants inclusion in a "force"..

Not sure whether the book says all normal restrictions are lifted or are still in place. When I get back to my room I can check. If restrictions aren't lifted then no you cannot have one.

Unfortunately I believe that the book basically says that all min/max # for squads is ignored but not special rules? If so, no half-naked women with chain saws . Otherwise you could just say the priest has 1 wound seems easy solution...

Ah, well it says no, so I'll have to say no...for now. Arco-flagellents are often used in Inquisitor warbands though (from the Inquisitor game fluff) so keep that in mind...

Neo: The priest is needed for the Arco Flagellants. The Sisters Repentia however, do not need a priest (although they are even deadlier with one)
I think I might go with a mixed squad of Repentia and regular Sisters... I mean, we're talking zombies here... what zombie movie is complete with out screaming, half-naked women? .... ok, so they're usually running away from the zombies, but....
