This was a heated grudge 1000 point match between the two acient races, and delivered all that was expected from the two races.
The eldar fielded two rangers squads (4) (5), on pathfinder squad(5), Farseer with warlock body guard, guardian defender squad(18), dire avengers (9) w/ exarch, warpspiders (5) w/ exarch, a wraithlords w/ starcannon, a wraithlord w/ missle launcher
The necrons fielded two warrior squads (?), a lord mounted to a destoryer body, three destoryers, a tomb spider and a squad of flayed ones(?) Deep striked.
The first turn was basic, the different squads moved into position, the destroyer squad fired on a ranger squad causing one ranger to bite the dust. The tombspider attemted to create a scarb swarm but to no avail. The rangers and pathfinders soon returned fire causing one destroy to go down. Then defenders rushed to the left to combat the advancing warrior squad and the smaller squad of rangers rushed for cover behind some well placed sandbags . The wraithlords slowly moved forward and fired at a warrior squad to little avail.
The next round of combat was more intense. The destroyers moved in and fired on the pathfinders and one unlucky pathfinder that forgot his cloak at home had his head flayed off. the two warrior squads contunied thier unwaviering advanced. Though one had a tough time with some barbwire and didnt advance very far. Ther other warrior squad engaged the defenders and managed to flay a few of them to painful deaths. The tomb spider attempted to create a scarb swarm but still couldnt find the energy need to create them.
Seening the pathfinder brutally flayed The farseer focused his energy and guided the ranger and pathfinder squad aim and they made short work of the two remaining destroyers and wounding the lord. The defenders advanced forward towards the necron warriors and unleashed a hail of fire taking out two warriors. The Warpspiders seening the success of the defenders warped in and unleshed their own hail of fire but the living metal armour of the necrons proved to strong and completely deflected the fire. Angered by the inability of their weapons to even hurt the necrons they rushed in hoping to inflict some damage but finding that they didnt workout enough in the gym, they failed to do anything. The counter assualt by the necrons proved more effective and landed several blows on an unlucky spider. While his armour saved defelcted some blows the last one found its way. The wraithlords slowly continued their advanced and fired their advanced weaponry at the barbwired tangled squad, but the barbwire proved to provide some cover and saved all but one warrior. The warrior not wanting to die, slowly rised again. The avengers trying a two pronged attack on the advancing warrior squad moved around the ruined buildings but had no line of sight.
The assualt from the warp spiders continued and the same results ensued. The armour was strong enought this time to deflect the blows landed from the warriors but to the dismay of the exarch the tomb spider joined the fray and killed one of his men. Seeing this the squad withdrawed, prevent the warriors from making any sizable advance, and regrouped. The lord was annoyed by the continuing percision firing from the ranger squads behind the forest rushed in and assualted the ranger squad inflicting one casuality. The entangled warriors focused their entire amount of fire power on the wraithlords managed to land several hits but all but one where deflected.
The Farseer focused his power again to guild the pathfinders aim as they fired at the tangled warrior squad. Dispited several hits only one casuality was inflicted. The angered farseer and his faithful bodyguard rushed the lord that was holding up the other ranger squad and made short work of him with their Witchblades. The avenger squad moved closer to the advancing squad and unloaded a hail of fire on the tomb spider only to minorly wound it. The wraithlords still focused on the entangled group only to have all their shots deflected by thier living armour. The defenders only a couple of inchs now way from the warriors decided to open fire only have all thier shots delfect off of the armour. The warpspiders wanting more, assaulted the warriors again along with the defenders. Scoring several blows they only managed to destroy one warrior.
Seeing that againt he battle wasnt going his way the exarch made a great withdraw and left the defenders to thier demise as they also tried to retreat, but failed. The tomb spider, seeing some fresh new targets, fired his staff and managed to kill one of them. He then assaulted the avengers and killed another one. The tangled necrons moved forwards away from the barbedwire and fired on the same wraithlord hoping to gain some lucky hits. Due to the gauss technology they were able to flay the sprit stone that held the warrior in the wraithlord, thus bring it down in a giant crash.
As the eldar started to realize they could win the day flayed ones fell from the sky in the forest right infront of the pathfinders. The pathfinder and rangers focused all thier fire on the new target only to bring one down, but managed to pin them for a while. The wraithlord afraid of being flayed by the necron warriors assaulted the tombspider and crushed it in one mighty swoop.
Feeling no reguard for their safety they assaulted the pathfinders and made quick work of them only to advance straight into the farseer, who stopped them in their tracks. The warriors took their last opportunity to shot at the wraithlord but to no avail. The thing was just too tough to take down. Deciding the battle was lost they teleported away to fight another day.
