Okay, I have bitched about Privateer Press poses in the past, but this one takes the cake... What the hell is the guy on the left doing? Crumping? What did the designer have in mind? Miniatures don't just "get made," they involve preliminary design sketches, painstaking armature posing and sculpting, and final approval from the manufacturer. Was Privateer just like, "Yeah, that is something that a catapult crewman would do- wave his arms around for no reason. Looks good- print it!" Seriously, how does shit like this get made? This is worse than the Ogryn Bosun's ballsack hanging out.

He is signaling for help..."if you get in trouble just wave your hands in the air...like you just dont care." On a seperate note, I like the Idrian Skirmishers UA that is coming out...I wish i knew if it made those guys super awesome. Let me know if anyone knows the rules. I also like this figure though he kinda looks like a Protectorate Jason. Once again if anyone knows what these do let me know.

Well, Rios, in that case, why is the other dude pointing? Who is running this catapult anyway? The only one doing any real work is the loader, who is holding his spiky ball so awkwardly that he is probably gonna drop it anyway. No wonder the rules suck so bad, there is a constant power struggle between the gunner and commander. That being said, if a model's pose/intent is not immediately obvious (ie, I have to think "what is this dude doing?) than it is a failure. On the opposite end of the pose spectrum, there is Enigma miniatures, whom I just discovered. Their poses are so natural, and their sculpts so well done, that I might pick some up even though they aren't connected to any actual rule system. They are so nice, they are awesome all on their own. For instance- this guy is a retard, so he is posed all paulseyed and stuff. i get that right away. Also, he is getting hugs from a creepy little bear. Check them out at www.enigmaminiatures.com/web/en/home.htm

The one arm is up to signal a hold to the rest of the crew, and the other arm is probably the one he is planning to drop to signal the go. Who knows...thus why Im not the retarded everblight! mwahahah

I only played you once where you may have won but not by a huge amount with your everblight. If I remember...the other time was 1000pts and Kromac literally raped your one twin caster in the booty hole. btw...magnus owns the cygnar lol!

I agree with you on this one Mike, I saw this model yesterday and was impressed with it. Though I like the mounted version better than the on foot one...a lance on foot just doesnt do anything for me.

Whats not to like? Its a lance being carried by someone on foot.
Lance that zaps still lame on foot...on horse makes sense or even on a 10 speed bike...but on foot nope.

I disagree with you both. I actually think this model is pretty mediocre. The posing is bland and lifeless, the armor sculpt (like most Cygnar armor) is neither crisp nor metal-looking, and the facial sculpt on both models is kinda blah. Not to mention, on an overall design level, this is just an uninspired mini. Compared to the Man-o-war Kovnik, this model is kinda crappy.
For an example of GOOD sculpting and posing, look towards GW's new Vampire Count character models. I don't usually toot GW's horn, but I must say many of their new Vampire Count character models are really nice. The new vampire count characters are all posed in a naturally dramatic fashion, and have overall incredible sculpts.

I like the new dragoon for cygnar. I certainly don't think it's bad, but I must agree with Adam, the new Vampire counts, especially characters are fantastic. We'll just forget the abominations that are crypt ghouls.
The designers for the new Vampire counts characters said they tried their best to move away from generic looking models that could represent different types of characters, and made each one with a specific purpose in mind (combat, magic, crazy eye...etc.) I think that helps a lot with the overall feel of the finished model.
On a side note, I've bought a few things from Enigma before. They are one of the few companies that produce good, realistic female faces, which you can buy packs of.

I will agree with you both that the new vampire counts line does have some good models. No argument there. I do disagree with adam about this particular cygnar model (the mounted one) but adam is way better at the painting and modeling aspect of the hobby so his opinion trumps mine easily.

On the Crypt Ghouls- THANK YOU! Jesus Christ, they are supposed to be ugly, but not in the way that crappy plastic models are naturally ugly...
As for the new Cygnar model- it is not TERRIBLE, it is just not GOOD per say. I guarantee that the design sketches for that model look 100 times better than the finished product, and it is probably because of subtle differences. The mounted model is just that- a mounted model. What is the model doing? Is it attacking? Is it triumphantly rearing back? I should know immediately what the artist's intent was when choosing a pose for the model. There are FAR too many models out there for every system that suffer from shitty poses. We went over this when the privateer models came out. It is no longer sufficient to have the "angry guy with his arms up holding weapons" pose, as the industry has gone to better places with both sculpting prowess and mold/casting technology.
