Hey folks saw this posted on adeptus so I just thought I would make sure our members know about it and show up to represent the NIMGC. Sounds like a fun event.

Welcome back to Planet Arkon, a small peice of rock in the middle of nowhere: Mordant Zone. This planet was subject to a Tyranid invasion during Hive Fleet Behemouth's spearhead into the Galaxy and was totally razed. Now hovever, since the fleet has been beaten back, and thanks to Imperial thuroughness, this planet has been rediscovered and cataloged.

Why did you get stuck in this assignment? After a failed attempt to rescue the research team, Fleet Commander Duros has decided to establish a base on the surface in order to secure what was found in the ancient ruins discovered by the lost survey team. Unfortunatly he isn't alone in this action and now a fight to control a strategic bridge is about to ensue!

On Board Games is hosting a 40K open-invite Apocolypse game on February 23rd. Here are the details!

Where:
On Board Games
811 W Lincoln hwy
Dekalb, IL 60115

When: Saturday, February 23rd @ 12:00pm till 8:00pm

Format: Apocolypse rules will be used.

Cost: FREE, sweet huh?

Points: Each player brings 1500 pts of whatever they want (perferably the same race)
Teams: Random- once we see who's here we'll divide up everyone into two teams randomly
Objectives:
--Primary: Hold the bridge!
--Secondary: Recover Supplies
--Tertiary: Invade opponant's table

Playing field:
We'll be using my two 12'x4' tables with a 4'x6' table placed between them as 'the bridge'. The tables are spaced about 4' from each other and will be considered open but impassible terrain, so bring out your 60"+ guns cause you'll have plenty of targets!

I have questions: since this is an Acopalypse game it would seem fitting to use things other than my standard guys and take advantage of the numerous units available here for Apocalypse games only. Since it's unrealistic to expect someone to actually own the models for most of the these things, would proxying be permitted? I'll list some examples and just let me know if they're fine or not:

#1: Fielding a single 1500 point Reaver Titan using a Gundam model as a proxy on a suitably sized base?

#2: Using a Gundam model on a suitably sized base to represent a Revenant Scout Titan (900 point Eldar model) while still using my Tau Army? I know the Tau don't have Titans, but this looks like friendly game so it shouldn't be too much to ask?

#3: Using several monster/critter models with suitable base sizes to represent things like an Exocrine, Dactylis and Malefactor for a Tyranid Army?

I really just want to switch things up and try something new. And yes thanks to *coughs* anonymous sources *coughs* I have the data sheets for all of these models, which would seem to matter the most in the end. (Kinda like Warmachine. Who cares if your WarJack has no arms so long as you have the data sheet, in this case the card, to show what it really is?)

I would more than likely say no on those things because it is open to evryone including people not from the club. If it was club only i would be ok with it but since it isnt I dont think it would be ok.

Just to double check: Deep Striking is allowed in this Apocalypse game right? Making sure just given the extensive use of Reserve rules and not owning the rule book I figured I'd try something new with something old: On-Masse Deep Striking Tau ^_^.

All deployment special rules are typically in effect. Deep strike, Infiltrate.

Reserves works differently. On the second turn, up to half of your units in reserve _may_ enter play in their various forms, and on the third turn all remaining units in reserve _must_ enter play.

In fact, I also plan on Deep Striking my entire force. Except it will be far more survivable than your Tau, since my guys will nearly all be 2+/4+ saves. Neat. It's just that I'd have far less guys to do whack with. ^_^
