I've thought up my Bretonnians army background, huzzah!
The Bretonnian presence in the Border Princes region is explained by the arrival of Lord Arleon the Wanderer. He built a small castle on a parcel of open plains. He has under his control a larger amount of peasants than many lords. Having witnessed the Lady in a sacred glade and attained Grail Knight status, the commoners have followed and almost worshipped him as another god, although any such madness is quelled. However, in their zest, the peasants have been scouting the land for years, and know all the best routes and areas to wage battle. They have trained almost exclusively with the longbow, and although Arleon doesn't support them in their own right, he grudgingly finds such different tools effective on the battlefield and gathers them together on the battlefield. Also, in return for such powerful knowledge of the land, Arleon has gifted his followers with more quality uniforms than most peasants will ever acquire. There has been word of more races and armies entering the region, and the armies have been preparing for war.
Cool, Bretonnians can always choose their deployment zone when setting up. Sweet!

"My Lord"
Arleon looked up from his rough map of the Border Princes region.
"Speak, Sir Lyon."
"Peasant-folk streaming in from the north and east have reported that the armies of the Empire are invading the land."
"What of the south, of the rumors about shadowy beings, of reptiles that walk like men?"
"No word my lord. But some of our peasant scouts did find Wood Elves south of us."
Arleon pondered this.
Wood Elves. They normally dwell within Athel Loren, in the heart of Bretonnia. They more than anyone despise invasion of land. Perhaps they can be persuaded to join our cause against the upstart Empire warmongerers.

Fine, my knights are attracted to a magical Lady that is the most beautiful thing they've ever seen. Can you blame them? They take vows of loyalty and chastity and the like. Of course they're going to dream up something and hope against hope to meet her. It's all they get!
And before you knock that, remember they knock you down, haha!
Anyways, this is my story thread. Make your own! =P

Of course. Such things are necessary, and you're right. Now that I think about it, my peasants own while the knights kinda just do stuff. Or die. Talk about role reversal eh?

Lord Arleon pored over the map in his command tent.
With the Wood Elves protecting our southern border for now, it is easier to focus on the north and east flanks. Sir Lyonne is leading the armies north against the invasion of the Empire. I shall go forth eastward then. Controlling that road would be a strong way to get there.
"My Lord, a messenger from Sir Lyonne's armies has arrived," said an aide.
Arleon said, "Excellent, send him in."
Bowing slightly, the messenger delivered his report to his leige. "Sir Lyon has spotted the army of the Empire crossing The Vaults, on a direction southward towards our castle. We believe them to be an army of Nuln, judging by their incredibly slow progress due to dragging a large number of warmachines across the mountains."
Arleon grinned ferally. "That will teach those dogs to trust in such dishonorable weapons. Perhaps they will learn from their defeat to try to reach us with skill and honor. Face to face. You may leave."
The messenger left and Arleon pondered over the map again. As he was thinking, he was interrupted by his aide again.
"My Lord, an official from Malko has arrived. Should I grant him an audience?"
As he entered, the man looked as if he'd been running for days. Everything was disheveled and he was fairly out of breath. Arleon was about to dismiss him immediately when he burst into speech.
"My Lord...Arleon...the great city of Malko...is under attack!"
At this Arleon stayed his hand and asked, "Are you sure? Who, and of what strength?"
"I'm not sure my lord. Strange creatures burst from the forest to the north and south. They were meeting battle on the farmland just east of the city when I was sent by the captain of the guard to seek help. They were lizards and horned beasts, all walking like men. It was blasphemy against nature my lord!"
"This development is most disturbing. I will respond to this threat with force of my own. Rest assured fellow, the city will be retaken if it has fallen."
Calling in his aide, Arleon spoke. "Scour the land. Gather up the knights and commoners, and we shall march to war against the obscene followers of Chaos. You have five days."
Returning to his map, Arleon thought once more.
Sir Lyon should be able to take care of the Empire men to the north. They will pay for their dishonor, as Sir Lyonne hates such tactics far more than I do. He will see to it they lose their precious machines in those mountains. That leaves me to take on a second front against these beastmen. Our land will be preserved, in the name of the Lady and Parravon we will prevail.

Coming in from behind the beastmen fortifications, Lord Arleon and his knights struck like thunder at the crude chariots of the chaos animals. However, this elation was to be short-lived when the bulk of the army assaulted and hacked his peasants to pieces. As the evil beasts continued on past his deployment to their fall-back positions, Arleon was about to give chase, regardless of their being outnumbered at least two to one. However, a knight of the realm approached him quickly.
"My Lord! We have found Damsel Elise in the copse over the hill! She is hurt badly but is breathing. We must return to the crossroads where the power of the lady is stronger if we are to save her life."
Arleon felt his face flush at the news. A damsel of the lady, while she was with his army. Anger filled his soul at the thought that these noisy beasts had outwitted him by gathering far more reinforcements than he prepared for. However, he needed a clear head to think, so quelled his anger, and loved and hated his decision.
"We will return then to save her life, and with all haste! I will not have such a precious person die if I can help it!"
***meanwhile, in the northern moutains...***
Sir Lyonne marched his men up the mountains easily.
Ahh, nothing like the crisp mountain air to know you're alive, he thought.
He and his army had marched through the mountains quite easily compared to the sluggish movements of the Empire men. They made good time, giving chase to the Empire as they retreated away from the angry knights. Lyonne's scouts had reported a major encampment area to the north-west. Having seen the enemy go north-east, Lyonne reasoned that they were trying to lure them away from their undefended supplies and baggage.
Well, if they want it badly enough, they will come and get it. Just like the land they tried to take from us! he mused.
Dismounting, he surveyed the area. Covered supplies piles lay everywhere, and defences ringed the outcropping on which they were placed. Inspecting the Empire-built defences, Lyonne was impressed.
Dishonorable as they may be, they do know how to defend something properly, he thought.
Addressing his army, he instructed them to begin adding on to the fortifications already in place where they could.

funny you mention that bc my skinks have been owning while all my actual good troops get moitered. and they're so expendable too at 6 pts each 7 if they're scouts. i like watching them try to stand up to things charging them while they just run away. they're like eeeeeeeeeee. but very interesting huh?

This is kind of a late story, but oh well.
After the dishonorable defeat of Lord Melkh during the Storm of Chaos, Archaon must search to find a new Tzeencthian general. After much searching he finds Lord Juss'Tyyn, Master of Change and sends him to his first trial.
Juss'tyyn was ordered to aid a Beastman warband in the border princes, and to also find a magical artifact of great power present there, the Sword of Eternal Fire.
Upon arriving Lord Juss'Tyyn finds he is opposed by the combined forces of good. Foolish mortals, they have no idea what damnation awaits them.
Little does Archaon know that this is merely a testing ground for Juss'Tyyn. When he has enough warriors and the Sword of Eternal Fire, Juss'Tyyn shall take over as the new Everchosen. And then the old world shall burn, as it has never burned before.

Ah man, I haven't updated in too long. Well this one includes last time against Adam.
* * * * *
The questing knights held their ground as the giant bellowed and loped towards them. As it reached his knights, Lord Arleon watched in horror as the beast took a mighty leap in the air, coming down with a sound of thunder, three of his proud knights crushed under its bulk. With anger coursing through his veins he kicked his pegasus into action and took flight, aiming for the middle of the giant's back. Aiming true, he impaled his sword deep in the meaty back even as it gleefully flattened more knights underfoot. This angered the giant though, and he swung around to face Arleon.
I must fall back and regroup with more knights to destroy this monstrosity! he thought with alarm. He turned to escape, and just as he got airborne, a large mass slammed into the left side of his pegasus. He and his dead mount soared through the air, landing with a jarring crunch on the ground. Arleon blacked out.
When he came to, he was in his command tent deep in the forest. He slowly rose, aching in every part of his body. Easing outside, he saw his faithful charger tied up, and smiled.
"My lord, we must move east. The peasants are whispering rumors of some great power," said his aide.
"I will pray to the Lady of the Lake first for her blessing. Then if we must move we will. Prepare the army. I feel evil coming this way. If so we must be ready and take the fight to them," replied the tired paladin.
"Of course my lord. They will be ready when you are," and he made off to spread the word.
Moving east, they came across no enemies. This surprised and disturbed Lord Arleon.
Scouts have reported large armies of beasts and the followers of the gods of Chaos out here. Where are they? he wondered.
As he was pondering this, one of those scouts returned.
"My Lord, we have found them! They approaching from the north!"
Ah! Now we can take the fight to these destroyers of the world! My sword will taste the tainted blood of this evil soon, he thought.

Lord Juss'Tyyn Stared into his orb of command, the green crystal was filled with swirling mist. The mist eventually parted and the image of his second in command, Chiron appeared.
Chiron was kneeling in the image."Hail, Lord Juss'Tyyn, Champion of Chaos Ascendant, master of..."
"Enough Chiron." commanded Juss'Tyyn, his ethereal voice full of unbound magical energy."Tell me what has happened, before I am forced to ravage your mind searching for the answer myself."
"Yes Lord." Chiron took a moment to compose himself." We have been able to find out just how large a force the Bretonnians have amassed. It is much larger than we had first estimated."
"I trust that means we have sent more souls to their damnation than first estimated as well."
Chiron took a long pause. "No, my lord. The Bretonnians..."
"What!" Bellowed Juss'Tyyn."Obviously, you are not fit for command anymore and have been reduced to the intelligence of a child. Pray tell me, what caused this change in you."
"The Bretonnians are more clever than they appear. They have knights with them immune to our magical powers."
"Aye, but are they immune to the sword?"
"No my lord."
"Then you have no excuse!" Juss'Tyyn's eyes burned with intense red fire.
"What should I do lord.
" You shall guard the rear of our army. A feat easily accomplished by a child such as you."
"But our troops have been routed."
"Use the humans who had given themselves to the dark ones earlier in the champaign." Juss'Tyyn smiled beneath his helm, his snarling fangs framing his bestial maw. "I have a special fate determined for the ones who refused to break. The ones who carried those flails and spoke of the end times."
"Yes my lord. I await..."
Juss'Tyyn severed the connection, and looked out at his assembled army, and then up at the borders of the Bretonnian lands.
"If you can't get something done right..."

Lining up his meager force, Lord Arleon surveyed the scene before him as his knights prayed for the blessing of the Lady. Ranks of foul followers of the Chaos gods clad in mighty armor stood in the distance. Base knights on snorting hell-beasts sat hunched on their mounts. Many-colored banners hung over the army, each gleaming with energy, though he and his knights had little to fear from them. The Lady was with him this day, and he felt it in his heart.
Suddenly, in the forest ahead, he could make out chameleonic shapes moving through the undergrowth. Perplexed, he watched still, as the creatures held small tubes to their mouths. One of the Chaos warriors fell, clutching his throat.
Elated, the Bretonnian warrior exclaimed, "See how the power of the world itself defends the sacred land of the Lady! Her creatures attack in our favor! Forward in the name of the Lady of the Lake, and crush the invaders!"
Spurring his horse into a trot, his loyal Grail Knights to either side, Lord Arleon broke into a run. The rest of his knights were down the line, and they too picked up their pace, eager to get into honorable combat with these blighting foes.
Magical blasts seared man and beast amongst the knights of the realm, but they charged courageously onwards. Thunder filled the air as dozens of hooves pounded the earth, great clods flinging into the air as they closed the gap.
With an almighty crash of steel and sinew, the knights struck home. Bodies were crushed and armor mangled beneath the hooves and lances of the knights, and few of their own fell. A great beast of a man on an equally-matched horse roared a challenge to Lord Arleon, which he gloriously accepted. The sound of metal ringing against metal resounded as the two heroes traded blows as hard and skillful as the last. They broke for but a moment, and Arleon heard the champion of Chaos speak.
"Now is not your time, little knight."
This caught Arleon off-guard, and with a heavy blow from the flat of the blade, the Chaos champion flung Arleon from his mount once more. Landing hard, Arleon lay dazzled as the Chaos thing turned and fled the battlefield with the rest of his army.
* * * * *
Two days later, Lord Arleon and his knights had ridden east.
"What a chill that permeates the air and drains the very heat from our fires," commented his aide.
"Indeed. But there's something of great value out here. Legend tells of an ancient Grail chapel, inhabited by a solitary knight. It is said that the chapel holds relics of significance that haven't been seen for centuries. Other legends say that to pray at this chapel is to see the Lady herself, to look into her eyes and be blessed eternally," spoke Arleon.
Travelling onward, Arleon saw a glimpse of something through the fog. Halting his force, he went in the direction of what he saw. Presently he came to a small hill and upon it, a chapel. Dismounting, he gave the reins of his horse to one of his small retinue. Alone he ascended the hill towards the structure. He heard in his head a soft, heavenly choir. As he reached the doorway, he smelled the faint aroma of incense coming from inside. The doorway creaked open on its hinges by itself. Feeling completely calm, Lord Arleon stepped reverently inside.
