Vampire Counts Progress!

Behold! I have actually painted troop models! A friend once criticized that my armies always consist of beautifully painted character models and completely unpainted troops. Well, due to the amount of time I have spent working on papers lately (and painting during breaks), I actually got a TON of vampire counts stuff painted.

It didn't really come out in the picture, but the banner for the skeletons is a recreation of a medieval "totentanz" painting. I kept getting glare, so no good pics of it.

Also, all of my troops are on Gale Force 9 magnetic bases, which are amazing (esp. for plastics). I could play in zero gravity now, if I needed to.

God damn adam those look like pictures of miniatures on the boxes. Freaking amazing.

I also noticed correct me if i am wrong that you did glare from the lamps on the corpse cart...I think...it looks good.

Amazing as always and also a nice review of the magnetic bases that i have always wanted to use.

I am trying to get up there.

Also adam you should post a sculpting tutorial if you get the chance...I would greatly appreciate that. I know you are busy with school so understandable if you dont get around to it.

Question: how are you painting the bases? My mental eye just doesn't want to match the colors for some reason.

I am starting with a base of Burnt Umber (dark brown), and dry brushing over with Raw Sienna (a rich medium tan color).

Once everything is clear coated, I go back and put some Tamiya "Mud" weathering pastel on the soil areas, just to give it a nice grainy finish.

Ill just be the outlier an say, "those look like crap. what did you take the pic from the box and photoshop it??! blah blah blah," but this isn't iwfb, so really good job on the painting. It takes a lot of will and patience to really paint miniatures from THE shittiest company around town. I would come down and bone ur undead with my lizardmen, but I have to hunker down in being greedy and "making money" at Lowes. The place is similar to GW in how it is run...by retards.
