perfered army

well... i'm starting to get to know everyone's forum attitude, this is definately a club of gamers - vs a group of gamer players.

i've noticed most play multiple game systems... but as far as 40k goes what armies are out there?

i've got a fair mix... I've been amassing guard for years, about 2-3PLs of metal catachans, 1PL mordians, 2-3PLs valahans, 4-5PLs of steel legion (i liked the minis)... and enough armor to fill a board twice over.

they are supported by a pile of deamon hunters, witch hunters, adeptus arbites, and i've recently started a company of marines (dark angel - but i'm thinking of creating a successor chapter that has a stronger crusade back ground and tying in some of the black templar accessories).

then there is a small chaos marine contingent, don't really unbox them often, and a pile of deamons - mostly blood letters... i had a Khorne army early in third edition.

and then i had a phase about two years ago and assembled a tau army... it is under used, but will get dusted off after i move. and earlier this year for some reason wanted a dark eldar army... so bought up a few lots on eBay and assembled quiet a little Kabal. onyl played it a couple times though.

I haven't really gotten into Warmachine, but your comments on it have me interested. so i might look at that.

I have a pile of Starship Troopers stuff - picked it up cheap, but i think that game system is dying as well... haven't seen it played anywhere.

man - this got longer then i thought... i guess that is what happens when you play for the better part of a decade.

I have about 2300 In Blood Angels. I bought my first unit for them 12 years ago in 7th grade and just finished them about a year ago.

Then I have a few other armies that are slowly being worked on.

1600 of Orks
1600 of Thousand Sons

I'm not in the area very often anymore, but if I ever am, I'd love another experienced player to throw down against. You sound like you've done some traveling? Where are you originally from? Where have you been and how did you end up back here?

I also have some Khador stuff but it's been a while since I've played the 'Machine...thinking of starting a Rhulic army...damn mini democorps look so awesome.

Sorry, I'm not quiet back yet... but you are right... i've done some traveling. not all nice either. so, starting from the beginning - i grew up in Joliet, graduated in 98 from Lockport. Went to Michigan (MTU) for college and graduated in '03... yup 5 year plan i enjoyed it so much. from there I lived in AZ for about 6 months before moving to Italy. From Italy I was able to see the majority of southern / south-eastern europe, northen africa, and a few fine locations in the middle east. during the winter of 06-07 I moved to Germany, did a lot more traveling in northern europe and the plan is for more in north-eastern europe. oh... and i squooze another trip to SW asia in there.

By nature of moving around so much i've learned that getting on the ball early makes the moves so much easier... so for instance, in late '09 when i will probably be returning to the northern Illinois area perminently - i'll already have some friends, know my way around, and be able to get started from the get go and not need to get my feet under me.

I've done a fair bit of gaming in Italy, Germany, and England... but haven't really played much in the last 9 months... nature of being in SW asia... i do have a few peices with me for when i get a few minutes and can sit and paint.

I should be taking a trip that will have me passing through the Dekalb neck of the woods in Aug/Sep of this year. want to see a few things for myself before i go too crazy setting up the next 4 years of my life... potentially more.

i know one thing for sure... i'll miss europe. nothing quiet like white pants season. (think deer season - but the game are all tall thin european chicks in skin tight white pants)

Sounds like good times for the most part on your travels. As far as minis are concerned I stick to mostly 40k. I have up to about 3000 points in orks, and about the same in Eldar.

i have alot of eldar, im thinking about 4000
i have a ork bfg fleet, not sure how operational it is though.
had some space marines, idk where they are right now though.

and i have VC for fantasy

I have about 1500 points playable/realistic Tau Force for WH40K, but probably around 2K worth of minis for it (all in various stages of painting, but mostly done).

I have about 2K playable points worth of Tyranids for WH40K, but I'm unsure how competitive it is being Genestealer heavy *cough* point sinks *cough* (all in various tages of painting, but mostly NOT done).

I have around 50 Dark Eldar Warrior models I picked up that were no longer wanted, all painted by someone other than me.

I have a Warmachine Cryx Battle Box (various stages of painting).

I'm also planning on a acquiring a 750 point Hordes Circle of Orboros army within weeks to help whittle away the summer hours before studying abroad abroad in Malaysia and running around over there.
