They told us the other night that your army does not have to be painted, but that for future tournaments it will be.
I don't know how much sway we'll have with that, because if they hold hard and fast to that rule I really don't see myself doing many tournaments. With classes and volunteering I'm lucky if I get my entire army primed. Maybe they will have a sliding scale or something, having the basecolor done would be a bit more manageable.
Anyway, have you heard anything if they are going to divy up the Hordes and Warmachine players? My army right now is pretty heavily skewed towards disruption, which would be pretty silly against Horde.

I have to second Vic on the "fully painted" rule... It really excludes alot of people. It is fine for people who just want to slop paint on their armies, but makes it hard for those of us who take our time with painting. Especially for something like Prime and Primal, that only a few of us play to begin with, and none of us have painted forces... Anyway, just my two cents.
If I had my druthers, they would just go by PP's Steamroller rules, which are posted on the PP site.

Maybe this is something we should bring up to OBG then. I know I spend literally hours hunched over my models, wearing loupe magnifying glasses to paint. I certainly am not the most talented person in the world, but I do take my sweet time in getting everything perfect. As far as proxy, you could use balls of tin foil for all I care - as long as they matched the base size you are proxying. I couldn't care any less if people proxy the shit out of their army. Not everyone has the money to invest and anything that increases the number of players is a good thing.

If this was some kind of big time tournament, then I would want completly painted armies...but the fact that most of the people playing would be from our club, and we all know very few of use would be able to do a fully painted army, I'm ok with forgetting that rule. I'm sure Onboard wants as many people to show up for tournaments as possible, so I'm sure they could be persuaded to change their minds.
Maybe they hope requiring fully painted armies would make people... I don't know...paint? Some people have the time, but just choose not to paint. I personally think painting is a hugh part of the hobby and that it enhances the game a lot.
But yeah, we should definitely talk to John and Seth.

To me, painting is MOST of the hobby, as I spend more time doing that than I spend playing, but it is just that- a hobby. If painting has to be a chore, something you have to force yourself to do just to be included in some game play, then it is no longer a casual thing. I am sure that OBG won't have a problem, as they are pretty laid back, but in general I think the "fully painted" rule blows. What is worse- a fielded army of primered minis, or a hastily painted one?
Additionally, I agree with Vic about proxying too... It is a game, fuck it. The whole "no proxy" rule only exists so people buy more minis anyway... I can't blame anyone on not wanting to drop 50 bucks on a mini they have never fielded...

How many of us are actually planning or even have enough to enter this?
I'll have 500 pts (probably all painted even) by then.
I'm sure Vic, Mike and Adam will want to be in it. Ryan has exactly 503 worth of trollbloods, so I'm not sure if being 3 pts over is going to fly with the store.
But that leaves Josh, Alex, Jessie, Scott and Caleb, right?

But that leaves Josh, Alex, Jessie, Scott and Caleb, right? I've got probably 600 or so worth of stuff. Jess, maybe more like 350-400, something like that. Depending on what Adam H. wants to play she could maybe borrow some of his Cryx stuff as a filler?

Well, that also depends on what she wants to borrow. I will be running my Cryx, so will not have too much available to lend out (at meast not too much she would want to field...)
I know Mike (Cygnar) and Alex(Orboros), and myself(Cryx) are in for sure, but that is all I know for sure. Unless Caleb picked up some more stuff over the holiday, he only has 300 pts or so of Everblight.

Well this also depends on whether or not I will even be available to make the tournament. I will work until 4:30-5pm-ish on Saturdays so if the tournament starts early in the day and I have to be present then... well.... no dice.
I'll see how many points I have and get back to ya though.

I'm really looking forward to the 27th although I completely agree with Adam and the rest of you that think that fully painted figures and not proxing blows, I know that I just ordered figures from OBG so they would be in on time and it's costing me more money (that i dont really have). I have just got back into the whole miniature thing and I like to take my time painting my figures, nothing worse than a sloped together figure you payed money to have. Ok now that I am done venting, just wanted to introduce myself, Im Alex, yes I am a Ninja, I play Orboros, and I like to make Forest Terrain, and Play D&D from time to time, Recently really have been nerding it up, I think Im level 5 nerd now according to Josh

Hey Guys, I heard there was a tourney hear-say thread but I couldn't find it originally. I made a post in the OBG thread and on our calander on our main-page but I'll duplicate the fine points here: Sat. Jan 27th starts at 1:00 pm cost $5 (or $12 purchase) 3-4 rounds (depending on turnout) 500 pts (60 min rounds) PRIZES: 1st = $30 jack 2nd = $15 support troop 3rd = $10 solo more info in the other threads. I looked over your comments on the painted/proxies issues and I totally forgot to mention that this was a painted and no proxies event only...... j/k. haha. Anyway, like I tell everyone: "proper-painted peices make the game more enjoyable for everyone". That being said you all raise good points of being busy with school and what-not. I'd love to paint up the rest of my flayed one's but can't dedicate the back to back hours to do it. This event will be un-painted and proxies allowed, but please, proxy lite. Your opponant thanks you . As far as the future, we'll see. If it's mostly club members then we'll keep it that way. If I'm able to access enough of a player-base and run a big event then painted/no proxy will be in effect. You're right, it is a game and you're supposted to have fun, not stress over it. BTW, is anyone interested in a PP campaign? or becoming a press ganger? I could use one of those . Lemmie know. -Dude

Yes on both accounts. I've been getting more active on the Privateer Press forums (rule disputes mostly).
I'd love to become a Press Ganger.
