Hmmm.... so their "guild" beta just started on the 11th of July, and they still haven't entered open beta... Yeah.... I'll believe that shit when I see it.

That would be a bad marketing idea IMO. I would rather get my members involved before the new expansion game sucks them all away...

i dont think they have a choice, either they get it out at the same time or they will lose people to WotLK. Thats coming out in Dec for sure.

Thats what I mean, they should release it earlier...but we all know what happens when things are rushed.

It's not like it hasn't been in development for long enough... I remember looking at screenshots back in 2003, but that was before the entire project was scrapped for the second time.

I am very skeptical about this game. I saw a video of gameplay online and it seriously looks exactly like Everquest set in the Warhammer world. It was on either IGN or Gamespot. You would think they could do a little more with the combat, graphics, and environment, but I guess just copying and pasting Warhammer skins and changing the story is fine with them.

I've gotta concur with Matt on this one... Everything I've seen just looks like a prettier World of Warcraft with a slightly different class system. I've found it strange that Warhammer Online has been touting such features as their Realm vs. Realm play, while World of Warcraft has had such features for years. Yeah, WOW is getting old, but it seems like a pretty direct replacement. I have a feeling it is going to be like playing a post Magic: The Gathering CCG; it is going to have all the same features and gameplay elements, but with different names (i.e., "it's not 'tapping,' it is 'exhausting.' It is totally different."). If you look at the rules for the WAR Warrior Priest class and compare it to the WOW Paladin class, they are almost exactly the same down to their 'career paths' and judgment spells.
I mean, I like World of Warcraft, but I've already played it. I'll probably Warhammer Online no matter what because it has the same fluff as some of my favorite games... It might screw up said fluff though, which will fill me with righteous fanboy rage.

Greetings from Minnesota guys. How are things?
I was chatting with Caleb the other day and he mentioned the game and I wanted to pop into say 'hey - i'll probably give this a shot'.

WoW is probably a better and more "updated" comparison to Warhammer Online from what I saw. Still skeptical though. They should change the formula as these MMOs are all just becoming copies of each other.

IDK a company needs to make money and if something works then they will do it. the class system and skills with moral factoring into it seem really cool and have nothing to do with wow. And adam while you are sort of right on the RVR thing wow's RVR doesnt impact the game at all, unless you count honor and arena points. WotLK is coming out begining of dec.

Replication of former success does not a quality game make.
Since when has the formula for a good game been "do what has made money in the past?" All the best games are the unique and original ones. I am still anticipating WAR, but I am anticipating a pretty WOW clone, with elements of Galaxies and other successful franchises. All I am saying is not to expect any groundbreaking gameplay elements.
A company needs to make money... friggin' Republicans and their free market thought, squashing the spirit of innovation...

I say it promotes innovation, because of competition. Video games on the other hand have hard to coming up with new material due to programing restrictions and hardware restrictions. That being said i think that WAR/WHO has several innovations, they wont be completely clear until open beta and after.

Cause its really hard to login and pick a damn server... Login...hmm which one...oh this one...go to NIMGC forums and post which. 2 minutes tops after updating the game if needed...real hard. The real topic should be who is playing what and if its possible, to get everyone to pick the same alignment.
