So another year has gone past, and the event has become even bigger than before. They moved it to the northern hall, where every fall is held the International Model and Hobby Expo, or whatever it's called, so it was comfortably familiar to me. That aside, there was plenty to acquire and do.
Nicole and I met up with the club as we entered, and I proceeded to hide my extra bags under their table, since I didn't want to have to go through the bag check and all that stuff. I entered my Defiler and terminator lord in the Golden Demon, and off we went.
We headed over to the shop, looking for interesting things not readily found. At BL we got Liber Chaotica, Liber Necris, and Xenology for half price, which was cool as they are kick ass books. Then we signed up for the website and got free mini's; I got the LE Wood Elves Wardancer and she got a LE Skaven General.
So far as make and take more, we built a pair of buildings and grabbed extra bits as we left, so now we have four. We found bits at the end of the day to make a goblin riding a magic carpet, an Empire swordsman, a half-Empire half-Chaos marine clearly confused about his lot in life, and an Empire man who happened to find a bolt pistol and chainsword. As for extra bits as we left, suffice to say I could make three minimum-sized units of Empire swordsmen, halberdiers, or whatever. We painted up a termagant and a skeleton, which was fun.
Later we did some open gaming, and despite being in the farthest corner away from everything, guys would walk by and check out Nicole as she played. Rather amusing, that.
End of the day, I didn't win anything for my defiler, but it did make it above the other models and below the winners, in the first-cut limbo. Maybe, with extreme hope it will be pictured somewhere.
Hey, if anyone that went doesn't want their SM captain mini, I'd be happy to trade for it or whatever.
