For those of you who are bored like me and Rios. Check this game out.
It has a free 14 day trial. If you decide to pay after that, all expansions and future expansions are free.
Your skills train even when you are offline. Its kinda kool and looks real good.
Its a space mmo, and you are always in a spaceship.
Delso: Zekk Draconia Rios: Shriken
Should be fun, come join for the 14 days and have some fun!

Somehow I totally didn't notice this thread until now. Just want to throw in my experiences with the free trial.
1) Space is big. There are hundreds of systems out there, and each system has multiple planets and asteroid fields. Even with fast travel, it takes a while to get from point A to point B
2) Space is lonely. The aforementioned size of the galaxy means that you are likely to spend a lot of time mining in solitude. Thus, I would either start playing with a bunch of friends from the beginning or find people to play with quickly.
3) Space is deadly. It is very easy to find yourself overmatched against the pirate NPCs, and death in this game hurts a LOT. If you don't have insurance for your ship or a clone to back up your skill points you are SOL. Thus you need to set aside funds for these things and be prepared to run away a lot.
All of that being said, I think this game has potential. I really like the idea of large-scale fleet battles at later stages of the game. Not something I would want to play alone though.

while the prospect of a space sim is HIGHLY appealing, I cannot justify monthly fees for a piece of software i could theoretically acquire through 'other' means. Also, I've been too busy with classes and as far as what video game time i get now adays it's spent on Mount&Blade, a neat little $30 indie game that is surprisingly addictive and tries to re-create feudal european melees.
