Adam's Official 2008 GenCon After Action Report

Another GenCon has come and gone, and it was a very good one to me.

I won a total of 4 trophies in the Privateer Press Painting competition

• My Warpwolf won 1st in Warjack/Warbeast ($200)
  
• My Everblight battlegroup won 1st in Battlegroup($200)
  
• My Trencher diorama won 2nd in Diorama
  
• and my Withershadow Compine (with the puppet) took 3rd in Unit
  

The best in show went to an AMAZING diorama depicting Vlad and the Old Witch forging his sword (from the fluff in Apotheosis). The picture is kinda shitty, but here it is- Trust me- you have to see this hing to believe it. I didn't feel so bad losing to something this awesome-


Though my Trencher diorama did not win 1st, it did impress Privateer Press creative director and big wig Matt Wilson so much that he offered to buy it from me for $400! That makes my total income from GecCon $800, meaning I actually MADE money this weekend!

I also won 2nd in the privateer press speed painting finals, and got a combined total of $45 con credit and 3 3 miniatures out of the deal. i also won a reaper speed painting competition, but didn't feel like doing the finals. Still fun though.

In other news...

Privateer Press has grown to the point that it has it's own cosplayers. Here is Holt and Skarre

Also, some Stormtroopers are secretly old lesbians.


All in all, GenCon was a blast (as always). I highly recommend it to any gamer. I'll post more Privateer specific stuff under that forum.

Congratulations are in order. I suppose it's just as well to sell the awesome thing right away...especially to such a big wig. Maybe you'll see artwork in a future release depicting it and you'll think "Yea, that's my shit all over and in everyone's books. It's that awesome."

Congrats Adam. It had to be a good model to beat that trencher diorama. Looks like you got a nice piece of change for it though and from someone in the company which is cool. Congrats again man.

Good work on the awards. How many is that now? I want to say it's in the teens (that is not an innuendo). Also awesome that you made money off of it. I am sure that big wig guy will take credit for your work, but you can sue him for even more money. See you technically can use your painting skills as a side job.

While you were surprised to see a stormtrooper lesbian (as I was), I was even further surprised to see a black guy/woman in the background of that cosplay pic. Although. he/she may just be a janitor or maintenance for the convention center, nice to see some color near the gaming community.

Great stuff man, I wanna check those models out in person next time I stop by your place. Tonight doesn't count though lol. Bring the legends book you grabbed to club on Thursday if you come. I wanna check out some things in it.
