I made a little rpg type dealie for warmachine and I was wondering if you guys would like to run a little escalation league, starting out at, say 150 points or so (plus custom characters). I think it'd be cool and fun and quick.
And can we really not put attachments on here? I was going to put up the rules but that seems to be impossible.

You know I'm in. When do you want to start, and what restrictions do we have on our forces? Do we take a warcaster?

Can you post basic stats for 'vanilla' characters for each race? (ie. what their stats look like before upgrading, plus initial points available to spend on skills, abilities and equipment) Basically, I am asking for a character sheet.
Plus, could you post (maybe on these forums) what each of the abilities do? I don't know all of them.
Can we pick any race for the faction we play, or does it have to work with our faction? (ie. could I have a trollblood character with my Khadoran force?). Plus, what other limitations do we have on our 'army' selections?
I might be late to our meeting ( I have class till 840, maybe), but I am willing to game all night if we have a place to do it.

Nah Problem.
Human SPD: 6 STR: 3 MAT: 3 RAT: 3 DEF: 10 ARM: 11 HP: 3
Trollkin SPD: 5 STR: 4 MAT: 3 RAT: 3 DEF: 9 ARM: 12 HP: 5
Iosian / Nyss SPD: 6 STR: 3 MAT: 3 RAT: 3 DEF: 11 ARM: 11 HP: 3
Ogrun SPD: 6 STR: 5 MAT: 3 RAT: 3 DEF: 9 ARM: 13 HP: 6
Rhulic SPD: 4 STR: 3 MAT: 3 RAT: 3 DEF: 10 ARM: 12 HP: 4
Gobber SPD: 6 STR: 3 MAT: 3 RAT: 3 DEF: 12 ARM: 10 HP: 6
After spending the 10 points that you start out with a character could be like so.
Human SPD: 6 STR: 3 MAT: 6 RAT: 5 DEF:13 ARM: 11 HP: 5
After adding 7 resource points of standard equiptment.
Human SPD: 6 STR: 3 MAT: 6 RAT: 5 DEF:13 ARM: 16 HP: 5 Heavy Arm (+3 ARM) Sheild (+2 ARM) : P+S Attack : 3 Two Handed Sword : P+S Attack : 8 Pistol: RNG : 10 POW : 10
Which is along the lines of Sam McHorne and Boomhowler, being pretty cool but not really a solo. I'm not sure if more points to start is better? I haven't really playtested this much (at all), so any input before trying it out would be great.

Sounds reasonable, dependent upon what we are doing.
Here is my tentative character/list.
So, let's say I do a Cryxian character... Let's say he is a blighted Trollkin. Can I spend my 150 points on Bane Lord Tartarus, 8 Bane Knights and a Necrotech?
Blighted Trollkin Adventurer
SPD: 5 STR: 4 MAT: 3 RAT: 5 DEF: 12 ARM: 12 HP: 5 Tough Fearless Pathfinder Stealth
Hand Cannon Power 4 Sword

OK! SO! Changed some stuff around, so the link should have a new version at the bottom. Seemed like Characters were a bit lackluster so I upped the starting points to 15 and 5 at every advancement. Not changing it untill after we try it out some more (got to test it a bit with a friend).
And yep, that list looks about what I was thinking. If anybody has any imput I'd love to hear it!

I might suggest putting the starting racial stats slightly higher and maybe putting lower caps on the stats. After I spent all my points on my character, he was still well below average for Warmachine, and he would likely get destroyed by most other stuff it would come up against.
You could also split up the starting points, i.e. 5 to spend on stats and 10 to spend on skills, and then when you level up you get one stat point and 3 skill points or something (plus, since abilities like 'warcaster' and 'warcaster armor' cost so much, maybe you can bank XP?)
Just a couple thoughts.
How will you level up anyway?
Plus, when you get 'broken legs' or something as a defeat result, is that permanent?

About the injurys, that is permenant but I meant to make it harder to get that result. On my version of the document you only get injured on a one or less (no death) and then roll for your injury.
Banking XP is already OK.
Leveling is D3 experiance after each battle (-1 if you lose) and each 5 experiance levels you up.
Maybe 8 points for equiptment instead of 5?
I think that while not as good as, say, Tartarus your character should be pretty good in a small points game. After a level or two he should really come into his own.
I dunno, should it be more points to start and fewer per level?

I'm thinking either better vanilla stats, or more points to start off with. For instance, with my blighted trollkin, after dropping 6 points into his stats, he was still only a DEF 12 with low RAT and MAT. That is going to make him the rough equivalent of a single trencher on the battlefield (and we know how long THEY last...). I figure a few more points starting off will make it possible to specialize your character off the bat, giving them a fighting chance against their opponents.

So, that's with 15 points to start and 8 equipment points?
18 points to start should be pretty good then, I made this guy and he seems pretty noice. Nothing amazing, but he'll mess stuff up at the small starting points level.
Human SPD: 6 STR: 6 MAT: 6 RAT: 5 DEF: 14 ARM: 15 HP: 5
Sword Master Assault
Slug Gun (RNG: 4 POW: 14) Two Handed Sword (P+S: 11) Heavy Armor (+3 ARM) Buckler (+1 ARM)

Alright- my new tentative character, via the new rules...
Menite War Priest
SPD: 6 STR: 5 MAT: 6 RAT: 3 DEF: 13 ARM: 11 (12) HP: 5
Tough Fearless Pathfinder Thrust
Light Armor (1RP) 2 handed Sword (Mace) (7RP total) +Reach? (+2 RP?) +Knockdown
How does that sound?

You wouldn't need to spend 2 extra points on getting reach, just use the spear or halberd rules and say it's a custom mace. Other than that he sounds like he could ruin pretty much any solo on the charge.

This looks quite interesting, I will have to check out the rules in that link!
On a second note, I can not get to that forum link nor find your rules.
Want to link email them to me?

Fun times, I think this was well worth the thought you put into it. Mine fell in combat to Olaf's elf merc (the name is failing me lol)...but I rolled 3 twice to hit...the character should work with someone better rolling lol. It will be much better when she level's up!
