HQ: Inquisitor Lord (not sure of gear or psychic powers yet) Retinue of henchman: 1 familiar, 3 Acolytes, 3 warriors, 2 sages, 2 mystics Transported by a rhino Elites: 3 Daemonhosts 3 Death Cult Assassins Troops: 2 Full squads of Inquisitorial Stormtroopers mounted in rhinos Heavy Support: I want to make some sort of beacon to show the striking point for an orbital bombardment. My army could have like seeded the beacon before the battle or some other fluffy way. 2 Platoons of Guardsmen, some of which I will upgrade to special weapons. 1 Full sentinel squadron. I'm going to probably buy the cadian version, find lascannons, and use magnets so I have all weapons variants available. 1 Leman Russ Battle Tank. The units shown above from Codex: Daemonhunters will run you about 1030 points, while those from Codex: IG will cost about 780 points. Ish. So total you're looking at about a 2000 point army. As for suggestions, they'll come later .

ok im too poor for the big space marine box so im going to get black reach and the battle force to start my army, probably add a chaplain with jump pack and use my games day marine as a cc marshal for my HQ's along with the emperor's champion, that gives me 5 terminators, the black reach dreadnaught, my monster dreadnaught as a venerable (sorry delso), 25 initiates (marines), 5 Neophytes (scouts), 5 assault marines, and a rhino

I have a few inquisitors coming my way, none with a hat. If it's the one you're looking for though, by all means try to go ahead and get it yourself. I have all the point costs and everything I need now Andrew, so I have a rough idea of what point totals I can do with the army. I'm going to be running two squads or armored fists as opposed to the platoons. Less than half as many models for me to work on, and more fun tanks to do. Just a side note to try to avoid double posts guys (or girls).

I doubled because I posted micro-seconds before the one on the top of this page; thus, nobody would read it. And since no mention was made about it, I knew I was right .

I know, 'tis all good. Seen it a few other places here or there from other people as well and just thought I'd mention it. Oh, and "as for suggestions, they're come later", you must be writing a thorough report for me. I want references, a title page ("Jon's Unexpected Spanish Inquisition" is a nice start), and a table of contents!!! =P

In the case that two are posted in a row, it probably means that you double clicked the post button. It does happen sometimes.
I would like to replace my current one with the guy in the hat, and start running at least one inquisitor. I believe there are two different ones in the hat. The one in the box set, and the limited Gideon Lorr. I would like either, Lorr has a sweet gun and a diff hat I think...they have similar poses too.
I'm also thinking of picking up a squad of seraphim as they would make a nice assault addition to my grey knight army.

That is one thing that the Daemonhunters are severly lacking, Fast Attack. Granted options are there to deep strike a grey knights squad or ally or induct units, but throw us a friggin bone. Seraphim would be a nice addition though Delso. I also think they need to update the stats on IG transports, specifically the chimera. With the new Imperial Armour II update, I have the option to take inquisitorial chimeras for 55 points with weapons, smoke launchers and spotlights included. However, since I'm inducting IG armored fists, they still have the ridiculous 70 base point cost + upgrades and weapons. Stupid GW.

It is nice knowing that we play a system like Warmachine that they actually playtest and contemplate instead of mass-producing shitty, inconsistent rules without additional guidance.

Well when Privateer Press makes a game with tanks, let me know.
I've only tried my prospective list a couple times now, each game with kill points. It's kind of rough with two units of 3 guys each that count for 6 kill points, but the Daemonhosts seem to be pulling their weight while the Death-Cult Assassins pretty much suck. I see how they could be useful, but it's like sending 1 crappy eldar harlequin out there on it's own.

As I've been playtesting this army, I've come across a few noticeable things:
1.) Death-Cult Assassins: Terrible. Sure they can infiltrate and thus flank march, but these guys are little more than expensive crappy harlequins. Harlequins have better initiative, same number of attacks, furious charge, could have power weapons or HK's too, and an invulnerable save too. So I'm paying 40 points for my assassins each to gain infiltrate, an extra wound, and T4? Terrible. Not to mention each one of these assassin wannabes give a kill point.
2.) Daemonhosts: I thought these would be pretty bad too, but they've been a good force so far. Aside from the game where I sent them at the Thousand Sons which I didn't know the squads contained Force Weapons, they've been pretty astounding. Been nice tank busters and weak squad killers.
3.) Inducting Guard: I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't. I don't want to use two whole platoons of guardsmen. Ends up being a pretty hefty chunk of points and also offers 4 kill points. I'm going to run a couple squads of armored fists as the inducted troops to gain access to the Leman Russ and the Sentinels. It seems like that I can only play the allies in at least 1500 or higher games because why bother putting the crappy armoured fist squads into my list when I can't add the units I really want. Again though, I never meant this army to be particularly awesome, just wanted the best I could out of my options. I'm sure when the new IG codex rolls around I will get cheaper chimeras at the least, and perhaps better armoured fist units as a whole.
4.) Inquisitors: Man do we long for better psychic powers (aside from the turn I used holocaust to help him single-handedly kill 26/29 hormagaunts himself)...lol. My HQ squad has been pretty nifty so far. My inquisitor himself has yet to be killed in a battle. It's gotta be his Spanish flag.
