The New Hordes expansion is set to come out in March (which is early) and I want to revive Hordes/Warmachine playing in the club since most of our players have left the club. For those interested i will gladly demo to help get the game revived again. It is definitely a great game and different enough from warhammer for people who get tired of 40k every week. If anyone is interested in a demo or a game just reply here and I will gladly demo a game. Also there is a national league that they run, 4 installments for each season and i would like to get back into them and the monthly tournaments we used to have as well. For all information, either visit their website at www.privateerpress.com or ask myself, Delso, or Adam (if he ever shows up ). It is cheap to get into and the game is ever expanding, plus the models are just gorgeous for you hobbyists out there.

Gah if PP hadn't raised their prices to beyond reasonable levels (for me, they were reasonable before the price hike. the $ they charge for 3 models of cavalry are insane) I probably would've had a 500 point sized COO army w/ pig mercenaries right now. As it stands I can get a good sized Fantasy army for less than a small PP army. I'm sorry pretty metal models . Maybe when I have more money? I say all that because I want to get into Warmachine/Hordes badly... Not because it's basically the reincarnation of Hero-Hammer from the old 40k/Fantasy days of GW, but for the models and dog-fighter-esque style of game play. and models.

I would love to have an excuse to expand my Cygnar force. As it is right now my money is going into starting my WH High Elves, but if I begin to see more interest in PP I will gladly start investing more.

I guess it all depends on what point levels we're going to be playing at. 300 is a lot more affordable than 500 (the typical tournament # i hear). If we do those levels, then I'll seriously consider it. Otherwise, I did the math and even at something like a 20% discount my 500 COO was almost $300. Not do-able for so few models.

Yeah, why spend money on a good game when you could waste it on a broken one? If you have to justify it that hard, you know you are wrong.
You know I am into any organized PP stuff you decide to do. I don't have anything Thursdays next semester (as far as I know) so we could try to make it weekly again. Maybe a league if we can get 4 or 5 regulars?

As long as you're claiming 40k and fantasy are broken, warmachine/hordes are experiencing an arms race even more extreme than said franchises. It's actually one of the factors deterring my collecting. The issue isn't whether or not the "game" is a good value. Compared to 40k and fantasy it is. However, the issue has always been the $ you're spending and what you get for it. $35 for 6 models? They're nice looking (the newer models; some of the older ones are meh), but the new Fantasy models for Chaos Warriors in plastic are just... wow factor. That Chaos Lord on Mount, Demonic and Horse, is just awesome. Same with the new Vampire Count models (but the characters still kinda suck). Furthermore PP doesn't allow you to accumulate bits and accessories to customize your models cause there's no bitz and they're made out of metal. If you want customization, you gotta gee weez visit your bit box from other franchises kind enough to supply you with more than you technically needed (like my Ogre's Batallion box... lots of accessories to convert stuff into expensive models for free ^_^).
Now with all that said, I'm still interested in PP. I'd just have to play small games, or find something so uncompetitive/pricey points wise I'll wind up paying very little $ for a 500 point army. I'd be attracted over-all by the quality of the models and their characterful/unique look, but not really dig all the cheesy combination's with units/war casters that'll cream an unlearned opponent before the game even starts. 40K and Fantasy at least moderately tone that down because if a squad dies in 40K, you shrug and exact sweet delicious payback. If you lose a unit with PP, you kinda ran out of things to fight back with due to the small army sizes.

Well, last time I checked you could only play one fantasy army at a time, so you might as well get some Privateer stuff instead of more fantasy crap.
No reason to put too much thought into it. Just buy stuff.

LOL you're trying to win Adam over on a viewpoint? If you make a thread about cooking pancakes he'll figure out how to turn it to "All-hail PP!" Not that that's bad, but the effort to try and say otherwise to him is just cute. I did find that you can do bits with PP stuff too, allowing for custom models like what Adam typically does. Sculpt your own poses and the like with some bits stuck on for ease of conversion. store.privateerpress.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=48What's the new Hordes expansion all about anyway? Is it like when Warmachine started including epic-level casters and the like? What's the story. Gimme.

they're getting their first epic casters for hordes, although one has been out since the fall for each faction, and they are also getting character beasts as well as the usual units solos and other beasts

Yo rios, what are you getting me to do?
I don't remember the epic caster for Orboros...maybe I'm just dumb.
Anyways, I would be up for this. I wanted to get working on my orboros painting one of these days.

Well I will have to spend a bit of time assembling my elves and figuring out the ins and outs of playing the game, but at some point i will probably get another 'jack or two and maybe a unit.

i talked with john and he wants to run an informal league early next semester (or maybe starting this break if enough of us are here) to get people back into the game, then maybe we can get the call to arms 2009 starting again if we have enough people, he also said that he will start running tournaments again if we show him the commitment on our end so lets get it going people

Lets say there was 10 tournaments total. I would say ones that we were not represented at all was maybe 2 (that may be stretching it). It wasnt that bad. We cant force every Warmachine/Hordes player in the club to participate every time there is a tournament especially since many of us (all I think) were still taking classes and what not. Same applies now. I would love to participate in every tournament if they start again but I cant guarantee its going to happen.
This time tournaments need to be organized slightly better. Last time they started sporadically, scoring was different every other tournament and prize support and rules changed from tournament to tournament also.
Things need to be made into a standard format. Use the same rules, judging, prizes (or at least the method for figuring out who gets the prizes), and time...everytime.

Ditto. Mini games work around my work schedule and what not. I can't guarantee I can be there everytime, and on time. need all the hours I can get so I can get a new car.
