Araby Warhammer Fantasy So I decided to do a little project with the new lizardmen book coming out Basing it off of warmaster araby army 2000pt army Lord Djinn – slann Surrounded by Royal Guard (special, Temple Guard) Core 0-1 Jungle swarm – will be trying to get cobras and other desert snakes for the swarms 3 (NEED Ideas for Arby core, Skink Skirmishers, Skink Cohorts (with krox ranked), Saurus Warriors) Special Carpet Riders – Terradons Royal Guard – see Djinn above Camel Riders - Saurus Cavalry (Need 25-27mm camels?) Rare 1-2 Elephants - Stegadon Progress Pics Flying Carpets (terradons)     Normal Elephant (Steggy)    Mage on Elephant (Anceint Steggy Priest and Engine of Gods)     |

Well the elephants will be easy, just grab the LotR and modify.

Every time I run across this thread, I think it is 'Arby's Warhammer Fantasy,' which would be awesome in a different way.
Really cool idea. Any thought as to what miniatures you might use? I know there are 28mm historical minis for armies of Islam. Perhaps those could fill in some gaps?

I am starting on the Carpets first
I am looking for Camels, what site or minature line do you know of (website with Pics?)
Andrew the LOTR elephant is to big, I did pick up some elephats from Michels, going for a chariot base size
I do like the black-clad assassins, and If I do it right they could be used as Vesperos Vendetta for a DOW army

Oh it's not too big...just oversteps the base a little, that's all...heh.
Probably toys from Target, I believe we sold camels amongst other animals. Not sure on size; might be large though. Michaels might have camels too.
Araby just gave me the image of the hashish loving assassins with wicked sabers and a crazy eye. Ah! You could have golems for the kroxigors. Saurus warriors...palace guard of some sort? Skinks with their blowpipes as...lowborn? I know Bretonnians already claim that one, but if the image fits.

They have an ass-ton of historicals, and even if they don't have stuff, you will have them names of historical companies that might have Arab minis elsewhere. I know I have seen 28mm camel cavalry and such, but most of it has been 'Lawrence of Arabia' period stuff with rifles and such. |

I shall have a look, I was also thinking about buying a new Dark Elf Corsairs Box for the weapons
I am quite busy this week and weekend though, may have tomorrow, thur, Fri or Sunday evening available, I am home around 5:30 after work for wed-Fri
I have not had much time to research the periods that the Araby army is based off of for armaments

Well basically Scimitar is a generic term for many different swords in the Middle East area. Basically the only requirement is for it to be curved instead of straight.  I have four or five that look like this. |

I have started on 4 Flying carpets and one of the elephants and should be posting pictures over this weekend
I was thinking about a dragon ogre #4 for the djinn, 99060201201
Using the torso and making is arms cross with out the weapon
Army List for 2000pt
1 slann (djinn)
1 skink on steggy (
3x 10 skinks (ranked spearmen)
20 Temp guard (Royal Guard)
2 Steggys with Giant bow (elephants)
5 Terradons (Flying carpets)

The Second elephant needs more work, the white epoxy on it was the cheep stuff from homedepot
It was hard to work with in the ratios they had, it was like playdough when using it
I bought it just for the starting layers, will use more green stuff around the eyes and other places
The warmaster char in elepant has some type of standards hanging over the rug, not sure if I want to have them, or what to make it exactly
also the foam will be covered with epoxy and I will shape it into the arabic structure that the warmaster one has
Have some ideas for the Djinn but have not made it up to GW to buy the fig to start on it, last time they did not have any dragon ogres in stock, I was going to use the torso and part of the head for it
still have not done anything more to them because I have been busy, will post later with more progress
