Are any of the Warmachine players interested in starting any official League play? Sign-ups have to be in by Sunday, although new players can join afterwards. You can read about it on the WM frontpage, but it's basically a ladder-style league with certain conditions for receiving extra points. Looks interesting. Unfortunately, it's for Warmachine only, so Hordes players would be a bit out of luck.
It's basically $120 to join. If five others are interested, I'd be willing to pony up $20. Presumably a fair chunk of that money goes towards the leaderboard, so hopefully it'll cost less for the next "seasons."

That's an awful lot of money. I could be swayed to participate if we get 4 other people.
But, would we just be playing against each other all the time or would we have new competition? Spending 120 bucks to register ourselves for league play...then only competing against each other sounds a little silly.

I think we'd mainly be playing against each other, but having a league running might also attract a few new people from the broader area, so that's a thought. In my mind, league play would be a bit of an extra kick for me to bring my "A-game" to the table sometimes, and offer scenarios and such that I wouldn't usually bother playing. And snazzy patches and such for street cred at cons.  |
