alright...i didnt think i would need to post this, figured you were all adults but i guess i was wrong. anyways..pick up after yourselves ya jerks. John had to clean the entire basement himself to get his midnight draft together. we should be able to clean up the tables and fix the chairs when we're done and throw away all our garbage before we leave for the night. Remember we are using his basement with permission as a club, so lets show our thanks by cleaning up before we leave. Rant over.

Ditto. I've in the past asked people to make sure all the boards are picked up and your trash gotten rid of. No one's pointing fingers, but we all need to be mindful and respect the areas we use.

While it is important to be thoughtful customers and to respect the store that gives us life, to be fair,
-All of the garbage cans were overflowing when we got there. While this does not excuse people leaving trash around, it does inform why they might have done so.
-All of the chairs are broken, so it is hard to keep them straight.
-I'm sure that if John asked, any club member down there would have helped clean up, but as the basement is no longer exclusive to our club, there is a solid chance the garbage was not ours.

I agree with the above points and was about to make my own list of them.
If John is having trouble keeping the 'basement' clean, then we can just tell him on Thursday evenings that he has to go to the trouble of emptying his garbage cans (frequently over-filled) before the evening rush. Then after that, he can call a time out and ask us around 10:00 PM (always some of us left) to help put things back in order.
Putting away tables is easy (and often over-looked, despite the ironic effort of setting them up), but cleaning up trash is impossible unless there's somewhere to put it. IE, empty garbage cans. A lot of the trash just falls off the top of the pile lol.
Most of the chairs are just broken though...
He might've just gotten upset because he associated Thursday night's crowd with the source of the unkept nature of his basement, but it was very, very unkept when I got there Thursday afternoon before hand. It probably just wasn't cleaned in a while.
This proposed solution should be adequate for both parties involved.

While I agree with the above points that Adam made and think that they need to be dealt with (especially the exclusivity part). I also think that as a group we should be willing to help out a little.
If you see trash is full inform John so he c an do something about it, Offer to empty it and put in a new bag. I know this is technically the job of the establishment but we all know that things get busy sometimes people forget to do things. That or if you see trash is full go ask john for a new bag so we can seperately throw out our groups trash.
I am not saying we need to be held responsible for any messes or what not that occur there but we should also be willing to help out a friend (John) and his business that helps us out.

As is said and was not clearly sunk into your heads. We are allowed to use downstairs for free...Yea we aren't really in charge anymore, but he can deny us to use it. So if you haven't cleaned up in the past, please do so. I'm not pointing fingers because I'm sure I have forgotten a can or something in the past. Also, don't eat on the felt covered gaming tables. A little help goes a long way, I remember taking out garbage for john before our first fund raiser tournament. Again, he lets us use his facilities for free. In the end...blame it on the magic players

That is actually very rational, logical and a correct conclusion to draw. We do stand (more or less) the entire time we game. The Magic players (no offense) ALL sit... Huh, go figure, the mystery of the broken chairs is solved. Who wants a Scooby Snack? ;D

I would like a Scooby Snack, but be careful where you leave the wrapper.
