[RARE CHOICE GAMES]

4/13/05
Adam and Matt battled over the bragging rights to who had better armor, with Space Marines vs Necrons in a 1000pt (I think) game. Marines came out on top, even though the vindicare assassin couldn't hit worth crap. Overall Adam wasn't too disappointed, as they were all his models, so he took a moral victory in that "his" force wasn't defeated.

Josh and I had our second scrap between the Bretonnians and the Empire. Another massacre, better than the last ensued, as his great cannon was reduced to shooting peasants for lack of ANY other targets. High point was my trebuchet exploded into matchsticks on the first turn when he turned the cannon loose on it. 90pts never used...but another fun game, great opponent.

Some things for next year I've been thinking about. For me, a better night to fight would be on Thursday. I don't know about everyone else's schedule, but we can work around them all to find the best one. Maybe even we could start earlier, like 5:30 or so. Another thing is that we can advertise our club in the Northern Star for free, and as I'm sure many, many people read the Star we might get more membership and good jazz like that. Which leads me to the room situation. Over in Graham Hall, on the fourth floor and maybe the third, there are larger rooms than what we have now. There are more than plenty tables and there are windows! Lots of ventilation for too warm rooms! Plus, if you have a blue permit you can park just across the street. It'd also be closer to the dorms for us pokey walkers.

That about wraps it up for now. This coming week will be 40K for me. I should be coming - though I might head downstairs at 7 for a birds of prey exhibition thingy that sounds awesome.

Today was a game of much gaming and goofiness. The batrep's have been posted already, but here's how it went down.
Games Played in 40K:
Caleb's Eldar vs Adam's Necrons
Victory: Eldar
Andrew's Ultramarines vs Adam's Necrons
Victory: Ultramarines. Once the terminators teleported behind the Necrons it was all over. If I hadn't had them however, a win would easily have gone to Adam.
Andrew's Ultramarines vs Glenn's Dark Angels
Draw
Mike's Tau vs. Delso's Eldar
Draw. Although the Eldar were wiped out, there was too little of the Tau to make it a decisive victory.
Fantasy:
Josh's Empire vs Matt's Lizardmen
Draw. Apparently Josh's pistoliers ran rings around Matt's lizardmen, causing a bit of consternation...

More or less that was all that happened that day. My girlfriend Nicole was in the room doing homework, visiting and seeing us in all our nerdy gamingness.

Next week the 27th I will not be able to attend, as it is my anniversary, so Josh might have to take notes . The final meeting will be in two weeks on the 4th. This will be the big showdown between my Bretonnians and Josh's Empire for the right to control a holy Bretonnian Grail Chapel. Don't miss it!

Secretary/President report for April 27th, 2005

Today due to low attendance one 1500pt vs. 1500pt game was played. It was Tau and Eldar vs a large space marine force.

Tau & Eldar: Basically this army was comprised of almost all shooty forces. The Tau fielded a broadside, 4 stealth suits, 2 units of 6 fire warriors and, a Shaso.
Eldar had a wratihlord(?), a bunch of sniper guys, a farseer(?), a tank thing, and a bunch of regular 8 point warriors.

Space marines were all foot sloggers minus one landspeeder(?), there were i think 3 tactical/assualt squads, two terminators squads, and one unit of grey knights, and an assasin.

Basically battle went like this Tau & Eldar fired and shot the crap out of Space Marines for two turns and then the the terminator squads deep striked in and Caleb and Josh thought they were in big trouble....but then they shot them to pieces.

All in All the Xenos won a crushing victory. It was a good time all around...it was nice to see my fire warriors on the table at the end of the game. I know i proably have alot of things wrong on here but....oh well. Next week a good secretary report will be up. Caleb, Adam, and Matt can feel free to add their 2 cents in to this report.

9/10/09:

It's back! The acclaimed thread has returned to keep all informed of club things. Anyhoot, down to tonight's meeting.

At least a dozen players showed up today, though most games were centered around the newly released Space Hulk. I reffed the first game between Tom (controlling the genestealers) and Friz (with the heroic Blood Angels!), learning the basics on how to play but not the tactics on winning, as poor Friz's dice were just not with him. Two sliced terminators later and the mission was lost. However, other people went on to try it out, with results unknown to me. Plenty of fun had though I think.

A couple new people showed up, one by my invitation and another by Mike. Kyle and his Chaos/SM officially joined the club tonight and donated to the club account, while Erik will be "joining" next week, bringing his Black Templars to learn how to play. Be nice folks! Teach, not trump!

I played a 2000 pt 40k game against Carl with my Ultramarines. Ended in a dramatic tie, but c'est la vie. I woulda won had the game ended on turn 5, grumble grumble. Rios kept Warmachine alive by teaching/playing with Greg and Ted.

Upstairs, the store got the television online, and the football game was on the big screen for any to enjoy. Added an interesting bar-like atmosphere, what with the game on in the background in addition to the music.

9/17/09:

Busy night tonight! About 14-15 peeps showed today. Even got five more players to join (though not all have donated; they will next week). Club is good.

Adam brought his space hulk as planned, and there was much fun to be had. We tried Mission 1 four times, twice each as terminators and genestealers. We always failed at terminators. It's sooo hard. But then we went for Mission 3, and it was cinematically by the skin of my teeth that one terminator made it off the board with the C.A.T., while the genestealers poured in the hall behind him, and the last terminator on the board wondering where everyone went.

Carl and I got into a game of Operation Overlord, having to relearn how to play. We tried out a tournament mission called Capture That Town! Sneaky flanking Shermans (and absolutely jammy rolling on my part) saw one panther immobilized, another wrecked, and an assault gun without weapons. Casualties were too heavy for the Germans, and the Americans captured the town.

Sean and Ian played some Dark Elves vs Empire. Sadly, the little men got shot and magicked away. Oh well.

4 members (or 6, don't remember) got into an Apocalypse sized game. Gloom and doom!, while another two played some regular 40k. Lastly, another two members got their hobby on by getting some painting done, which brings me to my next point.

New rule: when doing any hobby work at the store, you MUST have paper or cardboard or something underneath your work area. Bear doesn't want to get paint or glue on his tables, or the nicer computer tables. So, keep it in mind please.

Got my roster updated, so all is well folks.


10/1/09:

Plenty of people showed up last night, easily 14 or so. Some free-wheelin' trade was happening, with Adam getting the parts he needed, and me getting a couple new PP models to use; I think I have a crappy 35 point army now, yay!

As an announcement, we need to figure out how much terrain we have to be able to cover the tables. We'll need, bare minimum, 6-7 tables worth. I can do at least two with my personal terrain, the store can cover at least 2-3 satisfactorily. Ian said he'd bring his own as well.

Speaking of the tournament, we've come up with a couple more prizes, yay!

As a club, we are looking for people interested in going in with the store on a PP league kit. Sign up somewhere useful.

Sorry about the late post everyone, but hooo boy I've been busy. Let's go over the last meeting, eh?

Again, many (roughly 15-16?) people showed up. This time, a few people in various feudal/renaissance costumes showed up. I asked no questions but invited them to play, and so they did. 40k players, and it'll be someone's job (ahem, Mr. Prez) to formally introduce them to the club (though yea it's all board members who should) and convince them that joining is a good idea. One of them was painting a commission Death Korp of Krieg army; looks neat enough.

The return of an old friend was good too; Glenn Oba showed up, looking to sell his wares to any buyers. Some stuff was sold, but much was not. Whoever missed the deals, the following is still available:

On the game note, my Cygnar almost, ALMOST got Adam's Cryx this week. I was I think 3 dmg away from offing his caster...had I shot, even once, with Eiryss at it I would've gotten the win, but alas I need to learn more. I was so into my games I didn't notice what else was happening, but there was 40k, , WHFB, WM games going on all around.

Lastly, whoever doesn't know, Nicole is now my fiance! We're planning on a long engagement, so don't expect a date anytime soon.

Thursday was a busy night, what with the Warmachine tournament bringing out the alums and a couple new people showing up. Painting, gaming, the usual happened, and much fun was had. Afterwards, the Ginger took the typical brunt of baby jokes to the continued mirth of all. We had a board meeting (missing Sean, the bum) to start sorting out this spring's details.

Important dates! (tentatively)
Feb. 6 - Warmachine League starts, ends sometime in a tournament?
Feb. 20 - Winter-themed Apocalypse game

Greetings all, another word from the Secretary of Cool.

There are a few important issues that need to be addressed, mainly concerning club nights. Firstly, the club has grown (without advertising even, wooo!) and we are having a lot of people downstairs on Thursday nights. Frequently there are 8-9 6x4 tables in use during the peak times, and sometimes yet more people are without a table to play on. Remember, NIMGC club members get first dibs on tables that one evening out of the week, so please get registered, gift the club with your lifetime donation of $5, and happily know that you'll always have a table available on Thursday nights.

Speaking of space, there's been a constant bother. When people come in, they put their stuff on all the tables, then when other people move that stuff to put a game table down, it might get lost. To avoid these problems (and to avoid having crap everywhere), everyone should either put their stuff on a single table as everyone else, or put it against a wall, under a table, whatever works to get it out of the way. We are needing the table space for gaming, not case storage, so please put all your stuff together. If you're worried about cooties, like I said, put it against a wall or something.

Last thing about the tables, I swear! When a gaming table is taken out and laid on a fold out, if you are the last people to play on it (like your game is ending around 8-9 and nobody else wants to play on it), please put it away. Otherwise, Bear gets unhappy, I get unhappy as I have to put it away, and things go bad in general. Please, just like your food refuse, put it away when you're done.

And the next topic: tomorrow! This Thursday marks the 5th year anniversary of the party, as mentioned elsewhere. We want to have elections, then food (hopefully), around 6, so be there by then!

Well, the start of the new semester is upon us, and what does that bring? GAMERS!!!

As it was, last night we had 19 players down there for miniatures games, and with the semester starting we can, without a doubt, expect more. As per our agreement with the shop, club members get first pick of the tables on Thursday nights.

Along those lines, Tom Kaz! I'd suggest to your D&D group that a different night would probably work out best if you all prefer the lower area there, as table occupancy will likely be 100% until December.

Also, I'll reiterate to everyone what I said last semester: don't spread your shit out across the tables! We'll be needing them for gaming. If you're hobbying that's one thing, but having cases, models, and trash spread over 5-6 tables is unacceptable when we need the space. Stack it in a corner or against a wall please!

We don't have any leagues or campaigns yet planned for the fall semester, but there are a variety of small club-member-ONLY tournaments planned, one each for Fantasy, 40k, and Warmachine/Hordes. Stay tuned to learn when these will take place. As for campaigns and the like, we fully support members taking the reigns and heading their own campaigns. Ted did one for Warmachine last year and it seemed like a hit. If you have something you want to do, then do it! There are possibilities of the club supporting some prizes for member-run things as well.

Also! Since the hairy pirate Ian is hoarding all of his precious trees, we need more foliage! Any and all trees, shrubs, whatever else you can create is most appreciated to leave at the shop for forests. 40k and Fantasy with true line of sight require them the most I think, unless Warmachine has TLOS too (don't remember), in which case we need a hella lot o trees. No trees, no cover saves!

From what I remember when I was there last week, Bear talked to the D&D group that's been meeting there all summer about the upcoming semester and Thursdays being pretty packed. Tom and Mike (and I'm sure most/all the rest =P) are good people and there shouldn't be any problems. I'm glad to hear that there was a good turnout already this week! Let me know Andrew what weeks you're going to try to have E-Board meetings, and I can either get my ideas together and get them to you, or I can try to make it up there every so often.

The board meeting was had (minus the majority...it was just John and me...you schmucks!) and things decided! Our current schedule of events is on the white board downstairs at TNGiT, so check it out. If you can't make it there, check out the events thread located elsewhere.

We had another good showing, 20 easily. Mostly 40k players, but a good chunk of PP players too. Also, we may welcome a couple new members here soon, Jason May and Kitt Euler. They both play 40k, and though Kitt has been playing Fantasy for a long time, they both got the Island of Blood box, swapping armies so that Jason has a sizable Skaven army and Kitt the High Elves. More Fantasy players, yea! We now have 6-8 players who could do Fantasy on a regular basis and even more 40k players to come...needless to say we're going strong as a club. Good job guys!
