Hiya! Was hoping to get some input from you guys, since you're the folks I play 40k with the most, on a project before I dive in. I love the ork codex, but my friend also plays orks, and I don't want my ork army to look just like his ork army. So I'm contemplating building a "counts as" orks army using the forces of nurgle. Ork shootaboys would be represented by plague zombies with various guns, converted from a mixture of cadians, catachans, and fantasy zombies. Instead of the "Waaaaagh" rule they'd surge forward with a shout of "Braaaaains!!!" Ork nobz would be represented by a slightly zombified forgeworld renegade ogryn, probably the one with the power drill thingy. They're big and 'urty, and it's one of my favorite forgeworld models and I've always wanted one. www.forgeworld.co.uk/renogs.htmNob bikers would be represented by some zombied-up and futured-up fantasy chaos knights with dakkaguns mounted on their horses, taking inspiration from this shot (and then adding guns which are likely to end up looking comically anachronistic): www.sodemons.com/gd23uk/IMG_8360-01x.jpgLootas would be some sort of zombie with a randomly-chosen large-bore gun of some sort growing out of his chest in disgusting nurgle fashion. Whaddya think? Should I save myself the time and effort and just buy real orks to count as my orks, or do you think this idea has some potential? -John B.

I like the first and second ideas...but have trouble with the third. Why not just do Nurgle bikers? Shouldn't that be far more easy to do? You could nab the plague marine conversion stuff from FW to stick onto the chaos bikes and then you're set, just adding on whatever gear you end up using. Then the plague zombies and such make sense, as fluffily they're always led by Death Guard traitors. As you're HQ you can go with like the Typhus model or the new Nurgle DP from FW. Then when you hate the army, you can just use it in friendly games as an old school Lost and the Damned army from the Eye of Terror codex.

Thanks, I appreciate the input.
And those forgeworld death guard conversion kits are amazing.
Now I'm wondering if my admittedly mediocre greenstuff skills can be fine-tuned enough to make decent looking horse/bike/mutant hybrids.
Probably not lol.
