Andrew and I are teaming up for the Fantasy Tournament on Sunday. This week I started the actual process of building and painting my 1/2 of the combined army. I will be playing Beast of Chaos. When it comes to the army, I wanted to field units that are fast and nasty. I decided that since the new book is coming in Feb, I would work on a unit of centigor as they may become a core choice. If not I still have three other core choices lined up for the army. Any kind of feedback is welcome.

Looks good- very nice, earthy tones. It looks like you could use a couple of extra 'shades' on the lighter skin (some of the ink contrasts are a little too harsh- like on the right flank near the rear leg). Otherwise, the colors compliment one another nicely. Nice, subtle shading on the horns and claws, too. What color wood tones are you going with?

Nice so far. Keep the updates coming. Really hope our teams get to meet up in the tournament.

I am going to try the Reaper wood grain triad and see how I like it. I am also using the Reaper khaki triad for the banding on the spear. Still working out a few other colors with Andrew to unify the two armies. Should have another update tomorrow night. Tonight is school!

I haven't been terribly impressed with Reaper's triads- they are inconsistent, and the colors are a little weird in my taste.
I think that privateer has, hands down, the nicest paint with their P3 series. Except their metals- their metals suck. GW still has the best metals.

I prefer Vallejo overall, but the Reaper triads are decent. They usually require alot more coats to get a decent look, but since I like working in small steps, enough coverage is usually not a problem.

I noticed that about the Reaper- the Privateer P3's are the best-coating paints I've ever used.

Looks Awesome man.
Only thing I see is the tail looks like it could be highlighted a little more to match the hair around the horns. That could also be the lighting in the picture though since the tail seems to constantly be in shadow in the pictures.
@ EQUINOX - Disregard the critique above...I was looking at the pictures on a horrible monitor at work...Once I got home I realized I was mistaken. Looks even better now that it isn't being seen on a horrible monitor.
Either way though it looks really good. I look forward to seeing the rest of the army and hopefully playing against you in the tournament.

I really like the chaos mortal bits added in. They fit really well.
What type of bases are those...are they hardboard or something?

The bases are hard wood ones that I get from Games Plus in Mount Prospect. The brand is called George Bases. I recently saw another company selling the same type of bases, but I haven't tried them. I like wood bases for the extra weight, the way they rank up (no slopes), and for drilling pins into.
@link - I don't think you were completely off with your original comment and did a little more touch up. The next four centigors are also going to get a few more layers of base coat in comparison to the test model. Thanks again for the positive feedback! I also look forward to meeting up at A-Con.

When it comes to the first beast herd, I wanted to go with gors that carried shields. Most lists are all about the extra weapon, but I felt like I wanted a herd carrying shields since I haven't seen them played that way alot.
