So, I'm considering doing a conversion for Beast09. The new Khador plastic Jacks look awesome, in my opinion, and I think a really dynamic, awesome mod could be made out of it. I'll have to lengthen the axe shaft and i'll probably chop the legs a bit to give him a more dynamic-looking pose, but there's one part of Beast i'm having trouble figuring out. How would you do the shoulder spikes? On the metal Beast, it appears there are two sets of spikes on each arm; one set is on the outside of the arm, then a bigger set is on the inside. I'm trying to figure out how to make that inside set of spikes. Maybe plasticard? I'm not sure. I don't want it to look shitty, is the big thing. I'm generally really, really good with sculpting stuff, but I wanna make sure I'm not overlooking something.

Hmmm... Looking at Beast09, I'm not entirely sure what you are talking about... Do you mean the shoulder spikes? And then, do you mean the outer or inner row? Before I formulate an answer- are you opposed to using Privateer bits? Because I could think of a few that would make for good additions to your conversion...

Also, if you were referring to the larger, flatter, square spikes, my advice would be to sculpt little appropriately-shaped pyramids, then once they are dry, use a hobby knife to shave down the faces so they look nice and crisp.

Yeah, I'm talking about the big, pyramid-shaped spikes on the upper part of the shoulder. I have been getting some conflicting reports that this may or may not be legal, as far as pressgangers go. I don't intend on playing any big tournaments outside of adepticon, so it's not a huge deal, but I want to make sure I'm not going to waste time and money hacking something up that won't count for anything in anything but friendly games.
If you are doing a bits order, I'd be down for throwing some money in. I was considering the Kodiak shoulder spikes in place of the pyramid-shaped ones.

As far as tournament legality goes, a converted model must contain at least ONE part from the original model to be considered legal. Hence, if you could get one piece of the Beast09 model (head, etc), it would be legally playable.
Unfortunately, Beast09 is new enough that his parts are not available on the privateer store yet.
