I've decided to get to work and put together a battlewagon with Jess. So, I need a starting point.
I'd like to pick up a Space Marine vehicle to start as the basis of construction. Spefically I'm looking for a Land Raider, Rhino, Razorback, or the bottom to a Whirlwind.
EDIT: August, did you sell those Rhinos yet?

Yes, in a bloodless coup they were traded to the better bidder =P. You'll want bigger than a rhino chassis for a battlewagon base though.

I built my battlewagon in about 6 days and painted it in 2. It's not completly done, but it's game ready and painted to a gaming standard. I do want to do some writing, and more detail work. The only things I used was plasticard (a big mek's best friend, easily aquireable from ebay at pretty cheap prices), parts from an iraqi tank kit (I just needed any kind of vehicle for a starting point, found it on clearence at Hobby Lobby for $6), and some gw bits. Anyways, it's what I watned to try out at our battle, If you bums would have shown up, you could have seen it If you need ideas, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm not the most competant modeler in the world, but when it comes to ork vehicles, a monkey could get the job done. That's the finished battle wagon Left Side Twin Big Shooters, they turn side to side, pivot up and down and are removeable Zap Gun, the turret turns and is removeable Engine Here it is painted (Note the speaker boxes, I made them from plasticard and some mesh to house some loud ear buds. They are hooked up to an mp3 player mounted inside. It's still not very loud, but I didn't want to mess with having to install an amplifier. You can definitely hear it though) Side/rear view with audio wires coming out the back

OK, so I came up with a gameplan and it's rather insanely unorthadox. But I think it'll look funny as hell (whether or not it is wired with a sound system remains to be seen).
Luong, what are the dimensions of your battlewagon? It looks pretty hefty, and so far I think mine may be a little small.
So far, this is what I need.
(2) Twin Linked Big Shootas. (6) Big Shootas (1) Zap Gun [or ideas to fabricate one]

Mine's about 7" x 7" at it's base and about 4 1/2" tall.
To me, the end size isn't as important as it being able to carry 20 guys like it's supposed to.
If you look at pictures of other people's battle wagons, you'll see that min is actually on the small side compared to some.

Will have to add 2 side compartments. EDIT: Does the point cost of the battlewagon include the 20 orks?

Not a chance. It's not a dedicated transport, so is usable by any unit.

Well, I don't have my BBB on hand, but I think You can only have one unit in it at a time and as many independent characters that you want (while staying at or under 20 guys). I want to say guys in mega armor count as 2 guys, but I think i'm just thinking of terminators as there is no mention of it in the dex or any faqs.

Interesting - that sounds like another place to hide 17 ork slugga boyz with some burnas.

20 Ork Capacity: Orks = 1 Mega-armored Orks = 2 Can only transport one unit with any amount of independant characters attached, so long as the total doesn't exceed 20.
Psh. Burnas would be a waste. Put boys with 3 big shootas, along with a nob with big shoota, and slap on as many big shootas as you can. I think the total comes out to about 6-7, maybe more. That's a lotta dakka.

I thought mega armored orks counted as 2 as well, but then how do you fit 9 boyz and a mega armored nob in a truk? Lets alone a warboss and his minimal nob squad of 5 if they all take mega armor. I know lots of people who do this. Where did you find that, Andrew?

Yah where did you find that? Certainly not in the codex nor the errata on GW's website.

Picked it up from the Vehicle Design Rules. Interestingly enough you're right, it's not anywhere else, not even a faq...

Picked it up from the Vehicle Design Rules. Interestingly enough you're right, it's not anywhere else, not even a faq... That sounds kinda fishy. According to my rudimentary internet search, the Vehicle Design Rules appeared in Chapter Approved published in 2004 - which isn't even offered on games workshop's website any longer, nor can it be sold by internet vendors via GWs new policy. According to a few websites, it's not even in publication anymore. It doesn't make much sense that they would institute such rules about Mega Armor in the 2004 Chapter Approved, but not the FAQ published the same year. So what's the deal as far as our gaming is concerned? It'd be awfully lame to declare that Jess can't use her 5 ork bodyguards all of a sudden.

Eh...I'm pretty sure that Andrew will agree that Jess is fine.
Anyways, as I can't find a legitimate rule stating she can't, this shouldn't even be a question.
