Saw the starter boxes on the shelves this week, and apparently more rulebooks are forthcoming. Looks like the minis will be a combination of resin and metal parts. As much as I like the idea behind BFG, GW isn't really supporting it anymore and the races are not balanced. This game has four factions released already with a fifth on the way. Anyone interested? I'd like to get into a space combat game that has legs.

My buddy in Schaumburg has a bunch of the figures and plays a bit. the figures are nice and the rules are pretty good and straight forward.
I have thought about playing but I am trying to avoid buying into another miniature game! ;D

Well it looks like Spartan games is really pushing this universe. Not only is are the fifth and sixth factions for Armada already released, but they will also be debuting a ground-based game called Firestorm Invasion at GenCon. So if Armada is as cool as it seems, this might be the next big thing in miniatures. Of course none of this is helping you preserve your "fiscal responsibility" excuse

It looks alright, but none of the ship designs really speak to me. The prices are comparable, with battleships being half the price of GW's, cruisers being just a dollar or two less than GW's, and escorts are also about half of GW's. I might be interested? But I already love BFG too much and F:A ships just all look meh to me.

Well the rulebook contains several cutout ships and templates, if we're ever there at the same time and want to try it out let me know.
