I saw Jon Frizzel was added to the list today. His record speaks for itself and he does have a 2008 best painted. Any idea what is he bringing? Anyone know of any pictures of his stuff?
Army lists are printed and I am home for the next two days to spend time with the family and paint. I may try to finish one or two more conversions over the next two days. If I do, I will just swap out models and not change my actual list.

John (clemens) tried to have a half reserve army...it didn't do well at all against what I'm bringing, but I suppose against other armies it may?
Friz is our resident Ork player, but he said he wants to churn out the Necrons. He's been posting in this very thread...

Yup, Jon Frizzell (they do misspell my name quite often) is me! Thanks for the record statement, it does make me feel a bit accomplished at their venue. I don't have a best painted 2008 thing though, as I haven't played there at all until the end of the last series at the beginning this year, and the current series. Last series I had a 1st and 5th finish in the events. This year I have a 1st and two 3rd, with a Battlemaster to boot. All of that has been done with an ork list the locals think has no right to do as well as it has. I do intend on doing Necrons this weekend though. I'm going to go with the scarabs though, one heavy destroyer isn't all that productive for me. The other destroyers have the mobility to get behind vehicles to get em. One heavy destroyer for me won't even get it a WBB roll either....

I am still formulating my thoughts, but what did everyone think of Saturday?

Fun, for the most part. Actually, they were my favorite games of the season so far. All the rest have been against jerks (mostly, not always).
Beyond that, the scenarioes were interestingI was not adversely affected by any of the wonky rules, but I can see how some could have been (or not at all). One army shouldn't be screwed over when the other goes on just fine.

I have to agree, that for the most part, I had five fun games. A little bit of the bravado that I get annoyed with, but no where near what I have experienced at large tournaments. Of the five folks I played, my favorite opponent was Arturo. He was such a nice guy and it was great talking about painting and what we are doing with our armies.
My only complaint about the missions was a couple of them were overly complex. The destroy the object and ammo missions were very tough for Tau. Trying to accomplish anything via hth is tough and lossing my ability to shot for an army that only shots is very challenging. Neither were show stoppers for me, but I would prefer to not see either one again next year.
Hopefully they will run another primer before Adepticon, as I would like another crack at the format, but doubt I will drop the cash and a Sunday for that chance.
Can someone post the results here once they become available? I cannot view the AWC site from work.

The sports score doesn't mean anything; just take your total and subtract the battle and paint from it. 30 available for that.

I had a few problems, but they're nothing more than we ever face as usual there. Scenarios, need to be playtested. By playtested I don't mean "let's make people pay money to play in a tournament to try our scenarios". That one with the objectives being vital supplies was terrible. There was nothing in there hindering any sort of assault army, at all. Thunderwolves, tyranids, and orks in particular all had a serious advantage in it. Otherwise, favoritism towards the home team is also an issue.

I guess I am really confused, as I cannot figure out the best sportsman award was given out.
Here are the sportsmanship scores (I am assuming I did the math correct) Fortman 27 Swanson 28 Curti 25 Clemens 28 Frizzell 28 Hammond 27 Meyer 19 Karolus 28 Penfold 21 Sot 35 Gaszak 31 Ruffalo 26
If Sot won best painted, should I have not won sportsmanship if it was based purely on your sportsmanship score? According the posted rules "Best Sportsman: Sportsmanship points. Favorite Opponent then Battle Points then Overall Points for tie breakers. ".

Yea, you should have. John, Friz, and I all tied for it, while you were higher. Hmmm...

Looking at the numbers again this morning, the overall results are bad as well. Basically what was posted was Battle Points, Appearance, Battle Points + Appearance, Battle Points + Appearance + Appearance. This likely means he just posted the wrong information, but I will need to wait till tonight to check.
