Rios: I'm in with my Legion, eLylyth army. She's got some near auto-win matchups, but she also has some absolutely horrible matchups. My whole Khador army is built to be competitive, so I'm going to stay away from them. If we tell Bear about this league now and give him some time to promote it, I bet he'd work with us on some kind of special discount when buying stuff for the league.
This could be a really good time to get some new players into the mix. I know John Clemens and Jim were both talking about possibly starting the game. I keep trying to convince Billy to start playing. He's dominating people in Malfaux now, he'd be good, quality competition in our meta.
As long as this starts on Jan 2nd, I am in with Legion. I get my Legion stuff for xmas so anytime before then...I'd have to play my Khador. Seeing as the only 2 casters I haven't played in Khador are Zerkova and erm...eVlad...I'd prefer to play Legion.
The emphasis should be to get people to branch out, get some new stuff (or a whole new army) and have fun. I'm helping Brian with his Gatormen, teaching him how to paint better. If people were willing to try a new army, I know I'd be perfectly willing to help anyone learn better painting techniques and help them put their best painting product forward on their new army. I'm sure Adam would do the same.
I'll pass this by Bear on Thursday and see what he has to say. He's normally all for us trying to help him boost sales.

Spring Warmachine/Hordes slow-grow league League Information Duration: The League will begin on Sunday, January 9th, and last for approximately 8 weeks, at which point there will be a final tournament with prizes. The cost will be free; the club will be petitioned to produce prizes for the outcome from club funds. The Week: I will announce your opponents the Sunday morning of the new week. You will then have until the next Sunday morning to complete your battle with that opponent at the appropriate point level. I will attempt to make sure those same factions do not face each other for the first week. (I will try to have a definitive list of opponents posted for the weeks to come once I know who all is interested in the league) The Armies: Each person shall choose their faction at the beginning of the league. They will limit themselves to two warcasters that they shall use throughout the league, though there are no other army limitations. (The limit is set because there are some of us starting new factions that may only have two warcasters, and this is meant to be a learning/practice type league to get better with warcasters we might not normally use as well as whole new armies and trying to get new people to open up to the game) The Lists: Each person shall build their army list once their opponent and their faction is known to them. There are no limitation lists such as mangled metal or highlander, though people can feel free to do these limited lists if they see fit. The list costs are as follows: Week 1-2: 15 pt lists Week 3-4: 25 pt lists Week 5-6: 35 pt lists Week 7-8: 50 pt lists Week 9: 50 pt Tourney The Battles: Battles will be fought using the most updated Steamroller rules set and scenarios. Scenarios will be generated randomly before each battle using the Steamroller rules set included in the packet (This can be found on the Privateer Press website under the organized play tab) privateerpress.com/files/Revised_SR2010(2)_0.pdf Scoring: Each person shall score based on certain victory conditions achieved through either the completion of the scenario or through the assassination of the opponents warcaster/warlock. Wins/Losses will be the main scoring, followed by caster kills, followed by victory points scored, and finally by survivor points. Since this is normally determined by a timed tournament, all scenarios shall last 6 rounds. [There will be No ties, in the event that both parties reach the end of the turns allotted by the scenario with no clear winner, then the winner shall be determined by most victory points scored (if not enough to win scenario otherwise) or by their survivor points (warcasters/warlocks are considered worth 5 pts.)] Any questions or concerns just let me know.

How will scenarios be picked randomly? I ask mainly due to the fact that the method used during the league availed itself to always having certain scenarios popping up constantly?
Also when do you want people to declare faction?/When will we have the full player with faction list available?

you can declare faction any time up until the start of the league. I'll have a full list when I can get a hold of everyone. Im working thursday during the days again so i wont be making club unfortunately. scenarios will be chosen the way that is outlined in the packet. rolling a d6 then another d6

I know I havent really taken into account missing the battles. I'm not doing injuries like the last league because I am already limiting players to two warcasters/locks so I suppose if you need to make up a game it will not have any effect on other games taking place. However, you will have to remember what pt the lists are supposed to be for the weeks you missed. Also since its free its not like youre losing your monies worth if you cant make games. As long as all your games will be through by the end of the league tournament you will be ok.

Also this is the perfect league for new people who want to get into warmachine and hordes so fell free to ask questions on choosing a faction and lists. I'm still trying to break down Billy's will so he will start playing. got him looking at Magnus

Hey Rios how are the weeks going to go after we have played everyone once if we don't have 8 people?

I may cut off the 50 pt weeks if this happens and just have the tourney at 50 pts. I'm hoping for at least 8 people though. Help me convince Billy to get magnus going

I don't know if I would convince anyone to do magnus. pMagnus is borring as balls and eMagnus is very much a finesse caster.

Not sure if I will do this. If I do I am thinking about starting Cryx.
Also, will the MM tourney that day be part of it or separate?

Just to note Tom, you don't have to start a new army to do this. Some of us are slow growing something new but you can just take this as an opportunity to experiment with things you haven't tried much in your main faction.

Fair enough. I suppose I could trot out either Stryker or either Caine, haven't played those much. I'd kind of like to start a new faction at some point but I'll probably have to wait a bit for finances to work out.
