Ok John has made some changes to the tournament guys...due to conflicting events...the Warmachine tournament that was scheduled for Saturday April 28th is now going to be held on [glow=red,2,300]Sunday April 29th[/glow].
Also the [glow=red,2,300]price might change from 5$ to 10$[/glow] because John might get both sets of coins...if he does not get both sets of coins than it will stay 5$.
Otherwise rules I believe are still the same. make sure you are on time for the event. Also make sure you bring two printed lists for your army.

I learned more tactically by playing against my own faction at the last tournament once than I have in my last twenty games. The tournament is a great place to see tactics in action, see what works, and see what doesn't. Lots of fun too.

Yeah, you do learn a lot - like the Skarre Bomb doesn't need LOS to hit. Seriously, it's a great experience, though a wee bit too competitive for my tastes (I enjoy the more homey atmosphere of previous tournaments).
Anyway, are the painting rules still in effect?

Man, still going on about Skarre- GET OVER IT! haha!
Yes, painted rules will still be in affect for this tournament. I should know next week whether I can get both sets from privateer or just one. Store credit for 1st = $20 and 2nd = $10. Those coins are pricy!
Expect 4 round for the tourney. It will be in sunday the 29th and still start at 12:00pm. Expect the next event to be more beat-down and less table control.
I'll set the buy-in price after I figure out what the final tourney price is (if anyone is interested in that). Any other questions right now?

Just a couple of observations from our last tournament-
We may want to think of running things strictly by the Steamroller three rules, as we are attracting the more 'pro' players from the city. Though I don't particularly care, they seemed somewhat peeved by the "fully painted" bonus, as that is not a tournament standard. It kind of gives an edge to those who do not put as much time or effort into painting as others... I can kind of see why, but whatever. No big deal. Just constructive criticism.

I agree with adam as some people have posted about the painting bonus on our privateer thread.

Did they think it's that big of a deal? I'm kind of suprised? The Privateer press forums are a little large and unruly for me, so I'm prolly not going to check them out, but would they rather see painted only? Or just no bonus?

I'm sure they want the bonus removed. The problem is if you do fully painted as a rule, people are still going to complain as that isn't in the steamroller 3.0 rules either.

The complaint is that painting bonus is not in steamroller rules...they dont want fully painted either...they just want no painting bonus...I thought it was wierd but oh well.

Man, screw them. I don't think "fully painted" broke the last tournament and I doubt it'll break any future one. I thought the whole idea was to gently move us forward to paint our miniatures with a little bait. The more I read that thread (and other threads in that same area of the forums) these guys strike me as a bunch of elitist punks.
EDIT: Especially the 'sprocket' who posted this gem at the end, "Sundays suck for gaming for most people, thats why EVERYONE ELSE does tourneys on Saturday, I believe its a mistake to move your event to sunday, you will get lower overall turnout and besides WHY should on-board games take a BACKSEAT to another stores events? Having said that I wish you best of luck, I will still try to attend regardless."
The more I read that, he probably didn't intend to sound like a jerk, but I think that the judicious use of random capital words make it sounds like he's just whining.

Yeah i knew that some problems would occur from change with the PP board guys but oh well. I liked having more people...though some of them are kinda elitist not all of them are and in fact some of them were really cool guys.
Also Vic I agree that the CHILDISH use of CAPITAL LETTERS makes his post LESS important.

The IS enough. I will not BE bothered by the guys on THE pp BOARDS. haHA. If any of you care or post on teh PP FORUMS you might let em know that it's sunday this month just because of overlapping events. I dunno, I can't say I'm very fond of the guys either, BUT it is nice to get some fresh blood and fresh stratagies into the mix. If it wasn't for them how would Vic ever learn how super awsome Skarre is? I mean, that would have been a while experience he would have missed out on! :-)
Either way, I'd rather cater more towards what you guys want over them. I haven't made up my mind on the painting thing yet...

I agree, I really do like having new players - but some of the people on that board seem ridiculously over the top when it comes to competition. I feel like we've tapped into this seedy underbelly of serious competitors.
Anyway, Josh is defending OBG on the boards as is - I may get involved as well.

I really enjoyed playing against new opponents. I learned a few things that day. The people that came to the tourny, didn't seem to mind the painted rule at all (I didn't hear any complaints). And if they are going to be over the top when it comes to competition then they all need to follow the rules. (NO advice from others, Damn kid! ) Anyways I am secretively very happy it got moved to Sunday, I have a Martial arts seminar I'm doing all Saturday day and night. WOW couldn't believe how many people don't like the Sunday Tourny date. The only other option would be to possibly get a Room in the HSC and run the tourny ourselves (NIMGC), "that would take finding prize support", but just a thought if its going to cause no one to show. We could always have a winner takes pot tourny, or winner takes pot minus NIMGC tourny charge

this month I say we just keep it to Sunday...its really not a huge deal...just certain people on PP boards dont like it. I am not completely happy about it as i have to work sunday but oh well I will deal with it and its only a one time thing. I would rather have the day just be our event going on...than trying to have it saturday with another event going on at the same time (RANT REMOVED, I was in a bad mood and got a little angry but no reason to be like that...cause its stupid...)

Look, let's keep it to Sunday. OBG had committed themselves to running another event on Saturday, so we'll deal. The guys on the PP forums can live with it. They're not exactly 'long time veterans' of our tournaments and there is certainly no shortage of events in the Northern Illinois / Southern Wisconsin area. So, they can deal.
I'll be out of town at my National speech tournament in Santa Fe, by the way - so I won't be able to make it either way.

Wow, so much distress... anyway, I finnally got ahold of PP and so I know I'll have one (1) set of coins for this event, so entry is $5 or $15 purchase day-of, like I said earlier. I will have the hordes set this time and I will distribute them in the same mannor (champion+faction, then 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th). I talked to PP about trading coins if you don't get one for the faction you want and the turned me down, so do good! and get the faction coin you want! (or just beat up the guy in the parking lot).
If the guys don't like my 'painted' they're gonna love that I'm running one non-standard mission so much more! Here's the mission line-up for OBG's "Meet the beat down" April Tournament:
Round 1: Killing Fields (3 control points in the middle) Round 2: Straight VP's (this means you keep fighting after caster/warlock death) Round 3: Invasion! (control both deployment zones effectively) Round 4: Assasination (Kill the caster/warlock - 4 rounds for 8+ people)
You guys might want to brush up on what happens to your jacks/beasts after your leader dies for round 2. This April Tournament focuses a little more on raw power than tactics. Each tourney will be a little themed.

Gah, so I'm stuck with my silly merc coin. Oh well. After this tournament if anyone wants to trade me a Cygnar coin for a Merc coin I'd really appreciate it.
