40k Apocalypse (need insight)

So I never played in an apocalypse game ever since i just started playing back again after Christmas. The huge templates scare me since i usually play infantry heavy lists (BA assault squads). Now One of the guys at TDR (dragon's refuge in peotone) is setting up an Apoc game. I know 1 person will be bringing Guard. And it will be nothing but tanks. Randy will be bringing 8 blood thirsters (he only has 4 but within a month he will probably have 8 plus the forge world one...) I will be running the 2 baals and the landraider combo. SHould i invest in 6 landraiders and 3 more tac squads to run the other apoc formation for the blood angels or no and invest into some thunderhawks. It is under 700 USD (converted with google currency).

Im not exactly sure who will be playing what(except for myself randy and the IMP guard guy) it will probably be determined when we find out who is all playing and the date. (april or may).

Thing is the gigantic template scares me since i run infantry heavy lists usually.

Exactly; play what will be the most fun and smashing in a large game and purchase things you'll use again and again.

30 death company seems pretty good. Plus i'll need to get some points faster and they are meant for larger games due to their high point cost.

Give them all jump packs and power weapons; that'll eat up points.

35 points a piece for jumppacks power weapons are 15 and power fists are 25 so yeah.... They get very expensive o and add in Lemartes thats an additional 150. expensive.

Also DC are pretty Bad A$$. Plus i can take a unit of 30 and that gives me 6 DC Dreadnoughts o happy day.

Grey knights will be able to affect Deamon lords once I get my Second Ed. IA Apoc book (which has some new blood angel stuff in it too)
