Well another adepticon has come and gone. James and I once again participated in the fantasy team tournament fielding Empire and Dwarfs. Our army consisted of 30 Hammerers, 40 Spearmen, 30 Swordsman, 10 Handgunners, 2 x10 Dwarf Handgunners, Dwarf BSB, Empire BSB, Thane, Wizard, Hellblaster, Great Cannon, and a grudge Thrower.
Game one vs. United Against Chaos (Lizards/High Elves)
First off let me say this was probably the best game of the day. Not that the other games were bad, cause they weren't.
United against Chaos brought to the field: 21 Sword masters, Around 25 Saurus warriors, A large block of elf spear, an eagle, High Elf mage, skink priest, 10 Skinks, Saurus hero, 3x Salamanders, 10x Elf bows, a small unit of chameleon skinks.
The first couple of turns both teams exchanged magic and shooting to minimal losses on both sides. After this the game went downhill for our team. The salamanders started tearing apart the human lines and eventually only the Hammerers with thane and BSB were left. They put up an amazing fight against the saurus and had the game lasted a couple of more turns they probably would have killed most of the enemy army. We ended up losing this round and did not get any bonus points.
Game Two vs. Greased Weasels (Brets/Empire)
Another good game but our army was not built to fight this kind of list. We had brought a decent amount of shooting but these guys brought a lot more. They then preceded to tear apart our forces minus the hammerers with shooting. The hammerers did finally get across the board and practically destroyed the three units of knights that had been sitting across the table the entire game not moving.
So...another loss for us.
Game Three vs. Brets/Lizards
We were slightly better prepared for this battle and we did a lot better. My empire wizard got off The Dwellers below three times on the lizard player and destroyed 50% of his army. A timely comet for the enemy destroyed a large chunk of the empire swordsmen but did not kill them. Had the game lasted longer we would have had a win cause the Hammerers would have destroyed the Knights running around. Sadly the game didnt last longer so it was a draw but we did get the bonus points for holding the haunted mansion in the center of the board.
So we didnt do that good this year but I think our painting and sports probably improved again. Also I know we got 5 votes for Tourney choice which i thought was impressive. So while not necessarily happy with our results we are not completely disappointed either. I highly suggest adepticon for all players. It is a great time. Cant wait for next year where we will drunkenly stumble in again and hopefully kick some ass while having a great time.
