Army Composition
The army composition rules for Invasion IV are as follows:
1. It is strongly suggested that player's build their armies to be fun first and competitive second.
2. 1600 points using the composition rules for that size game in 8th edition.
3. All current WFB army books (including Tamurkhan) are allowed. In addition, the Indy GT Dogs of War/RoR may be used.
4. Special characters (including special characters from Tamurkhan) are allowed that fit into the composition rules.
5. Certain units from Storm of Magic, Warhammer Forge, and White Dwarf can be included in a player’s army as rare choices and will count against a player’s rare allowance.
6. If something is not listed (like Paragons) as allowed in these rules, it cannot be used.
Appearance Requirements
1. All armies must be painted. (No exceptions!) Invasion Kenosha considers painted to mean that an army has some level of detail in the painting. Models that are only primed are not considered painted at Invasion Kenosha.
2. Non-GW models may be used but should clearly represent the unit being played.
3. Display bases are not required, but are strongly encouraged and do improve a player’s score.
4. All models must adhere to WYSIWYG.
5. All models must be based. Bases must be painted.
Player Matching and Scenarios
Invasion Kenosha IV will be using a pod format for assigning players and match-ups. The goal of the pod approach is to limit the potential for a player to play against the same army book multiple times during the tournament. It should also result in players not being paired with the folks they traveled with to the tournament.
When it comes to scenarios and tables, tables will be set-up into groups of four to reflect the pods. Each group of tables will have a scenario specific to that group. Each round, a pod will play at a different set of tables and thus a different scenario. Players will be randomly matched-up within their pod for the first round, and paired by win/loss records for the second and third rounds.
Tournament Scoring
One aspect of the Invasion Kenosha is that it provides a competitive environment for those players that are looking for it. Along these lines, the event will use the following system to determine how participant’s fair in the competition aspect of the event.
Battle Points – 40%
Overall Each scenario will have a primary and secondary goal. Each of these goals will be worth a certain number of points as defined on that scenario's scorecard. In addition, each round will include a number of point modifiers. These modifiers are small bonuses and/or penalties that a player earns for certain things that occurred during the game. Examples of the scenarios used at Invasion Kenosha III can be found on the site.
Appearance – 30% Overall
During the break between game 1 and 2, the judge will score each army based on its appearance. This aspect of the appearance score is worth up to 25% towards a player’s overall score. An example of the Invasion Kenosha III can be found on the site.
In addition, each participant in the event will be able to pick the army that they feel is the best army in terms of appearance. This aspect of the appearance score is worth up to 5% towards a player’s overall score.
Sportsmanship – 30% Overall
At the conclusion of the event, each player will receive a sportsmanship sheet with three statements. For each statement, the player will rank their three opponents in the order of how well they fit the statement when compared against each other. An example of the sportsmanship scorecard from last year can be found on the site.
Awards
Using the system outlined, the following awards will be given out at the conclusion of the event. No player can win more than one of the following awards. In the case of a player being eligible for more than one, the judge will award that player the highest honor among the choices.
Overall Champion – Player with the highest overall tournament score across all pods.
Best Appearance – Player with the highest judge's appearance score across all pods. A player must have painted their own army in order to be eligible for this award.
The Hobbyist – The Hobbyist Award is given to the player that best embodies the spirit of the game and Invasion Kenosha. The winner of this award will be given to the player with the highest combination of appearance and sportsmanship across all pods. (Note: A player's army does not need to be painted by them in order to win this award.)
Pod Champions - The player from each pod with the best win/loss record for the pod will be declared that pods champion. (Note: A pod champion is not excluded from winning other rewards.)
Best Club – The club with the best average score for all players within that club.
Golden Stein – The single best painted model in the tournament. The model does not need to be included in a player’s army but it must be painted by the player. (Note: Winning the Golden Stein does not exclude a player from winning other rewards.)
The Glorious Monstrosity Award– The single best painted/modeled monstrous unit from Storm of Magic, Tamurkhan or Monstrous Arcana. The model must be included in a player’s army to be considered for the award.
Rule may be updated prior to 06/01/2012.
