theres 2 new cool battlesuit weapons....the cyclonic ion blaster R:18" S3 AP4 Assault 5, if u roll a 6 to wound its AP1, then theres this defensive grenade launcher that uses the big blast template with like S5 grenades, then theres the vespid weapon thats R12" S5 AP3 Assault 1 and the leader has LD9 and they dont have that stupid hive mind leader dies whole squad dies rule...um...new battlesuit support systems like ejectiors and stabilizers and the such...O'shavah is still in it...the stealth chick is amazing, and theres some new all powerful Ethereal who sits on a floating throne like in Halo 2 with 2 honour guard models...then theres the new skyreach missle tank, and the tau land speeders (Tantra?) there're pretty cool...and new markerlight drones...and the sniper team has a spotter and 3 sniper drones with rail rifles...3 teams equals one heavy choice...they dont include Aun'shi in the rules but they didnt say he wasnt a vaild character anymore

Uh...that defensive grenda thing is a one per army item, you can only equip it on crisis team leaders, and above since it is war gear. Basically, if you lose a close combat, you can opt to leave your team leader behind, he blows himself up to save the rest of the squad. You place the large blast marker over him, anyone under it takes a strength 6 no ap hit, and they can't try to chase your squad down. So it's very costly, considering you lose our team leader, but hey, if you're gonna get run over and killed anyways, might as well blow some of them up instead.

A Predator style bomb option for TAU! I don't know whether to say, "Whoa that's totally cool and potentially useful!' or 'That is so not the Tau style!"
The Tau are all about logic and conservation and concentration of firepower, a suicide attack doesn't seem very their style. In fact, it pretty much insults it. But it does seem like a decent option, depending upon how expensive it is in relation to team leader toughness it might be worth taking. Then again you never know how much damage you can do unless you get out there every time and give the those fickle dice a roll. I've seen a regular squad of Tau firewarriors decimate a space marine squad of ten! It can happen. It doesn't happen often but it's always worth it to say even if the war is lost.

I really don't want to call it a suicide bomb, even thought that might be what it is, and I understand it goes against their style, until you think o it in terms of the squad leader sacrificing himself so the rest of the squad has a chance to excape.

Well, it would be kind of like the tau to sacrifice one for the good of the um... greater good. But why call it a "grenade-launcher" if it dosn't shoot the grenade at the enemy?
But I'm still psyced to see all the new tau weapons and upgrades. I always thought that heavy gun drones should be an option.

grenade launchers are not true to what they can actually do in reality. come on the blast grenade is str 3 ap 6?!?! i thought grenade launchers were always a blast and blew up mega style. not in 40k like how the shotgun just stopped evolving and is just str 3 no ap. doesnt make sense, but makes u think huh? anyways i wonder what the stats of that tau bomb are? should be interesting....

Well isn't somebody going to spew? What do y'all think of the skyray? Are sniper-drones and Vespid the new "I can't live without 2 squads in my army" choice? Do markerlights now rule? Somebody go crazy-go-nuts on this thread!

this is according to mike. the new markerlights are awesome, skyray is dumb and worthless, vespids are useful for taking out a large amount of troops at once but go down fast due to their 5+ save (boo), sniper drones are awesome and insanely useful. the best tactic for the vespids are to wait until the enemy comes to you jump out and blast the shit out of them due to the 12" str 5 ap 3 guns. I dont know what their bs is. prob 3 im guessing. but damn that'll tear up.

What's he talking about?? The sky-rays missiles are all equivalent to the Imperial hunter-killers - unlimited range, str 8 ap 3 or 1. Granted, it can only shoot 2 a turn, but those rockets are kick ass in my opinion. Now the overall cost might not make it worth it, but I dunno...
