well basically the fact that u have a limited amount of them is dumb to tell you the truth. and you can take something much more worth it for those points like a whole unit of firewarriors or something else.

True. It's another form of mobile gunnery I suppose. It's different. I'm all about the different.

the seeker missisles are probably one of the worst choices the tau have as they are one shot "wonders"....i use the wonder word loosely....though they are powerful they suck ass.

like you said andrew, they are basically hunter-killer missiles with actual range restrictions, but are too expensive and basically luck for destroying vehicles. also, it's pretty pointless to bring it bc who seriously would bring tons of vehicles for you to face? that is unless theyre a giant pain in the ass...

Now as far as I'm aware (has no codex), seeker missiles are unlimited range with no los needed. Sounds to me like you park it behind a rock *cough* like a whirlwind *cough* and then have your scouts start marking tanks for smart-missle death. Six missiles seems a tad small for a loadout (especially if you can't mount seekers on other tanks now) but I suppose you really shouldn't need more than that considering if you're a real tau you have at least 1 rail-gun on the table. I heard (at least on the forgeworld model) that it also packs smart missile systems (2) so it can still pound the crap out of stuff without los needed. But I don't know the cost of the tank so I really can't make a judgement call on wether it's worth it or not. Either way, it's alot of missile death. Kinda reminds me of my mechwarrior days where I pimped out a MadCat MKII to have 10 missile launchers. An alpha strike would send a 100 missile salvo to the unlucky bastard under my lock-on.

I do not have the new codex but more than likely they dont make up for their points unless you marker light something for them...Vehicles i believe can still be taken on other vehicles but with a limit of 1 I think....mike or delso could tell us since they have new codexs.

Now I recently got a look at the new codex and noticed a change between the old tau "Price of failure" and new "price of failure." The tau used to go all flighty if they lost an ethreral. Now they wig out and get angry. What happened? Better or worse?
Does a squad of three crisis suits with multi-trackers burst cannons, and cyclic ion cannons sound like an awesome anti-infantry setup to anyone else?

worse in some ways, before the ethereal's ability was usable wherever he was on the board, now i believe you need los to get his bonus (don't have my codex). Why i did notice is the new ethereal is better in combat, he's no powerhouse by any means, but now he doesn't suck as bad. it seems to be a common theme with most of the new tau units, especially now the commander has the ability to hit and run.

Hey, has anyone noticed that O'Shova "Farsight" can have a personal bodyguard of up to 7 crisis suits? I saw this in the codex and built a maxed-out guard squad of 7 armed with missile pods, plasma rifles, targeting arrays, hardwired drone controllers (2 drones each) and muti-trackers. The squad runs at 884 pts including Farsight but has a truely kick-ass firepower plus the mobility of a crisis suit team. What do you guys think? 8-man crisis suit squad?

Very powerful, but unwieldy. I doubt there's enough cover to hide them all at once. Two squads of 4 would work better I suppose.

Do they all have to target one thing per shooting phase, or can they split fire?
