Weeks before the invasion began, troops and supplies were landing on the planet Lucier and preparations were being made to protect the civilized world. Elite Imperial Guard units settled in to shore up defenses, while Space Marines of the Ultramarines and Tempest Relentless chapters responded to the pleas for aid. A large fleet hung in orbit around the planet, consisting of multiple escort squadrons and capital ships, including such notable warships as the Retribution class battleship Warhawk and the Ultramarines strike cruiser Icarus.
The Inquisition, after much consultation of the Emperor’s Tarot, concluded that the Forces of Disorder are seeking the relic of St. Travion. This once mighty saint of the Imperium is entombed within the Hall of Heroes in the main city of Rescension, capital of the planet. He was once a man much revered by a greater part of the Ultima Segmentum, and what they would do if they captured the relic is not even thought about by the Imperials. Desecration is the only answer, and to do so to such a symbol of the Imperium’s strength would weaken morale of the entire sector and plunge it’s inhabitants into a war that would seriously hamper operations in the Ultima Segmentum.

The Imperium pounded the xenos before they could even land. In space mighty fleets clashed and the troops that made planet-fall were demoralized and scattered, unable to put up much resistance. Casualties ran high as the Tau and Eldar were broken on the impenetrable defense led by the Ultramarines. All sorts of despicable alien technology was employed against the Emperor’s finest, but it was all for naught as the blessed warriors destroyed them with cleansing fire and howling bolter. None were left standing, and only four battered firewarriors with a gun drone apiece escaped the wrath of the marines. The Imperial Guard also gave the Eldar a bloody nose with the deployment of armored fist squads and sound tactics by General Huenecke. However, not all went well with the defenders as the insidious forces of Chaos showed their hand.
With the eye of the planet’s defenders turned towards protecting from without, from within a chaos legion arose from hiding: the murderous followers of Khorne, the World Eaters. Chewing through Imperial Guard lines as though they were paper, a contingent of the legion broke through the outer defenses. Recon reports them heading towards a position held by Ultramarines of the second company, as well as some shadowy forces seen in the area.
With all the distractions being caused by this war, the forces of the twisted kin, the Dark Eldar, insinuated themselves into the webway into secret parts of Lucier. The Eldar within gave strong resistance but were thrown back by the mass of dark armored heretics. A few left standing were taken as slaves and the Dark Eldar won passage to the world.
The Tau are believed to be on a sort of crusade to expand their empire, with three sects joining forces to “liberate” the planet from its rightful Imperial rulers. They don’t seek the relic but if they uncover it, powerful repercussions can occur. The citizens can’t know that a filthy xenos would be able to lay his hands upon the sacred remains.
After much deliberation the Inquisition still cannot find a reason for the Eldar to intervene, other than they might have some hand in trying to protect the relic for their own purposes, or turn the tide of the war into a direction more of their liking.
With the forces in space pounding at each other and the forces on the ground trading blows just as deadly, Lucier has suddenly become a place on the Imperium’s map once more.
I apologize Adam but I am not sure what chapter you’ve named your marines. And you should give them traits. Be very interesting…
Yes I did win three games, but only two count for points because it would be not cool otherwise to the rest of the players.
I might update this later with more things that come up, or simply have another thread.
Anyways, that’s things in a nutshell for the week of 9/8. I’m off to do homework now, huzzah! For the Emperor, BURN!!!
