'Allo again. It's time for Ian's New Army Review. I'm sure everyone is groaning at the sight of this post. Anywho, downloaded and printed up the "Official Codex" for the Blood Angels upon seeing that Assault Marines are a troops choice. Yeah, I'm that easy.
What I like about it:
-Assault Marines are a troops choice. This is the big one for me. I love Assault Marines and the ability to field six squads of the 12" jumping, hacking death dealers is like crashing through a candy store window. Bonus upon bonus, they can drop their jump packs and instead of wandering around on foot, they get a drop pod or a rhino for free.
-Veteran Assault Marines Are also very nice. That's three more squads. But that's not all folks, the amount of specialized weapons they can take is awesome, as is the fact that they come with two attacks standard. Again with the free transport.
-Scouts are Elites. Yays for not having to sacrafice Assault squads to get my infiltrating missle launcher of doom.
-Baal Predator. twin-linked assault cannons. 'Nuf said; I needs me one of these.
-Death Company Furioso Dreadnought. gains an extra D3 attacks on top of the already three S10 attacks. And the idea of having an insane battle-frenzied lunatic running around in a tank on legs is just cool.
-Death Company is now a fixed amount based on the number of squads you have.
What I question GW's sanity about:
-No Armoury. Everybody has a set list of options.
-Artificer Armour is limited to only two special characters.
-You get a Veteran Sargent and four marines for X points and can purchase five more for X points. The lack of flexibility here is really bugging me. Sometimes I want more than five marines but less than ten so I can squeze in an extra squad of something else here and there.
So, that's it. The likes out-weight the dislikes two to one.
