500 Points. Cryx Scenario of "Hold 3 Hills for 2 consecutive rounds.
Vic - Cygnar v. Jess - Cryx
The game started simply enough with Darius forming the ever unbreakable pocket. The Coven came out swinging, running three bonejacks up the center of the field to set up the elusive 3-strike Stygian Abyss. The first round ended with a Centurion eating a bonejack and the Slayer fighting the Ironclad in the middle of the field. The other Centurion hung out on the far left of the field, not doing much of anything.
The second round consisted of the Left-Field Centurion running into the center and getting charged by several Revenant crew. The Ironclad was getting beaten to death by the Slayer and the Coven managed to launch two Stygian Abysses into Darius for 14 damage. The big man retreated behind a conveniently placed hill to cut line of site.
The third turn was a real breakout turn for Cygnar after a quick search of Privateer Press' forums detailed that yes, you could trample out of melee combat, and yes Full Throttle does increase each trample melee attack by one attack dice. 5 rolls later the Left-Field Centurion trampled and killed 5 Revenant Crew members and activated his rampage. The rampage itself was a little lackluster, as all of his new charge targets were in his back arc - so he simply turned around to marvel at the destruction he had wrought. Little did he know that 3/5 Revenant crew were coming back to life next turn. The right field centurion moved up to threaten the Coven on the hill - however the Coven responded with an Imprison which cut off the needed charge lane.
The Cryx DEGREE ALL IN MOMENT was a true marvel to behold. The Coven not only critically hit the only threatening Centurion with a Stygian Abyss (causing Blindness, effectively reducing his MAT to 1 for a round), but also rolled the infamous "Trip-Cryx Sixes" (1/216 probability). This effectively neutered the Cygnar offensive as Darius couldn't leave the safety of his hidey-hole without getting a Stygian Abyss up the keyster, but left the Centurions out of Full Throttle Range.
It was around here that Jess pointed out to me that Darius could simply poop out a half jack every turn to System Lock the nearest Bonejack's arc node. Which I was more than pleased to oblige with.
The last round was hall marked by Jess rolling a critical failure on two of her Stygian Abyss's then, yet another critical failure on the charge from Capt. Rengrave - all against Darius. It's my opinion that this must have been so, otherwise the amount of luck she used earlier would have torn the universe asunder.
The game ended with the Twin Centurions eating the Witch Coven.
Game, Cygnar. You know, that's a nice change of pace from my other battle reports.
