Aww, look who I found in a box today... in a couple of pieces, but he went back together pretty well. This is the Carnifex I converted and started to paint way too long ago. I think I'm going to make him my Golden Daemon entry for next year. Terminator shown for "Oh #$%! it's big" effect. Stands a mighty 5.5 inches tall. The head is actually the body from the previous rendition of the carnifex. Thankfully I was able to balance him just right so that he doesn't go diving face first into squads he's about to eat. I poked back through the codex and found that I had modeled the fex to have: Crushing Claws, Scything Talons, Adrenal Glands (+1 I), Adrenal Glands (+1 WS), Bonded Exoskeleton, Extended Carapace (+1 Sv), Flesh Hooks, Implant Attack, Regenerate, Reinforced Chitin (+1 W) Symbiote Rippers, Tail Weapon- Mace, Thornback, Toxin Sacs (+1 S), Toxic Miasma, Tusked. 273pts. Yes, I'd like one with everything. I'm not sure what colour to paint him.

that thing is huge...I dont remember fex's being that big. I personally like nids done in earth tones...not the purples and bright colors most use.

lol, yeah, fexs normally aren't anywhere near that tall.... all hunched over so they're about the size of a Space marine Dreadnought. Really didn't like that, so I modified the legs so that it's rearing up. But even with the one leg fully extended, the original carapace of the new plastic fex tops out at 4.5 inches and only because I tilted it back so that if I put one of the plastic fex heads in there it would be staring straight up. The rest of teh height is from bulking out the carapace with some of the optional back plates and then using the old metal fex body for the head. It's big. It's mean. It'll eat you... looks like it's worth 237 points.
Yeah, I kinda like the more muted colours. Purple is just too weird. The way the model feels I almost want to give it a really glossy black like Aliens, but all the details would be lost. I might try a mottled brownish green.

Yeah black would give it a very Alien feel...but black is hard to do all over...I know I dont like working with black anyways...but then again I am a crappy painter so...
Brownish Green sounds good. Post some pics when you get goin on it.
