Campaign Fluff

People were asking about campaign fluff, so i went through and found what was written. While it really doesnt matter, its fun to have fluff. So, if you want to build off of this thats great post your stuff here.


Seahawk-space marines

I shall have the glorious 2nd company of the Ultramarines, led by the indomitable Chief Librarian Tigurius.

The locals have discovered some ancient piece of something, doesn't look human and authorities were alerted. The Ultramarines strike cruiser Icarus was in the area and Tigurius diverted to assess the situation. His visions showed him that should the object fall into anyone's hands but the true Imperium's, something dire would occur Soon after landing, xenos fleets jumped in-system and the Icarus had to fall back after a fierce fire-fight with the invaders. The last transmission to the ground forces before the Icarus jumped away was:

++...kkkk...Icarus to Lord Tigurius. We are disengaging from the battle and the system...You must hold at all costs the object until we return....kkkkkkkkkkkkk...distress signal sent, Emperor's blessing someone hears it....kkkk....courage and honor brothers....kkkk....++

Siriq- Eldar
While Farseer Cybra searched the infinity circuit, he found a faint message from a planet he new little about, but only heard in stories from the few eldar that returned from the path of the outcast. He feared to say the name of the planet because of the nature of the stories and the implications it implied. The stories were about an unnamed artefact that rumoured to have the power to prevent the coming of Ynnead. This is not an option for the eldar. So, fearing that the object was found, he rounded up the largest army he could muster and sent them through the webway to the planet.

He sent a message to the other Craftworld hoping to gain a responce and support for his army. For he was determined to destory the artefact, but feared his army isnt strong enough. If the other craftworlds wont come, He considered the thought of asking another alien race for help. He laughed at the thought, even thought it might have to happen to preserve the eldar race and ensure the last hope of the eldar comes to pass.

Otho- tau
Shas'o Tash'var Or'es Kauyon boarded the transport heading for the convoy in space surrounding his home planet of Tash'var. With the his planet secured from orks and raiding pirates, he was finally able to mount the colonization of a nearby planet. There was a heavy imperial presence on this planet, but the planet was scheduled for colonization and therefore in the name of the Greater Good Kauyon would take it.

"Shas'o Kauyon!" yelled a Shas'ui " the last of the men are boarded sir, we should be leaving shortly."

"Thank you, Shas'ui" The commander looked out the window as the ship took off flanked on either side by Barracuda fighters. He felt there might be trouble but the Tau would endure.

Tau vs Marines September 16th Rearguard Tau defense.

Sargent Stark had only been assigned to Charlie squad a single day earlier; but despite his personal situation, Stark had been ordered to spearhead the offensive and prevent the Tau army from developing a formidable defensive line in their retreat. "Head for the rock outcrop on the top of the hill," Stark voxed the command to his fellow assault marines. The infantry would be depending on Stark's charge to lure the enemy out into the open. To his right, Tactical squad Beta moved toward the outer city through a valley filled with boulders. Light enemy contact and very sturdy cover; Stark knew Beta squad would have little trouble advancing. To his rear, Devastator squad Delta set up a firing position on top a large rocky outcrop. Stark would need their support against the Tau devil-fish he'd spotted lurking ahead in-between the city streets. Stark's most immediate concern was for Tactical squad Alpha on his far left. He knew that without jump packs they would be forced to move through the light trees that used to be a city park; now it was sure to be crawling with Kroot mercenary troops.

"Alpha in position," "Beta in position," "Delta in position," the affirmations of his brothers rang in Stark's vox-receiver. "Devastators: target enemy armored transport vehicle, infantry units: begin advance," with a practiced battle-cry Stark fired his jump pack and charged down from cover toward the nearest visible group of tau. Squad Delta opened up with their first salvo of rockets and plasma, striking several hits directly into the tau transport vehicle. The skimmer's drive unit failed and it crashed into a building wall as a smoking wreak. The victory was short lived. The Xenos infantry and elite-heavy infantry targeted Stark's advance with their combined firepower whilst they were still in mid-jump. A full half of Stark's squad was finished on the alien's first attack. Stark cursed himself for being so foolhardy, but time was a critical factor and he had had little choice. The enemy was vulnerable and the rearguard had to be eliminated as quickly as possible, Stark would rather risk his own life than order one of his battle brothers to be the bait for this battle. Diving downward, Charlie squad desperately sought protection from the brutal onslaught.

A burst of fire from the devastators halted the alien's offensive. To Stark's right, squad Beta drew off fire from a Tau crisis battle-suit as well as his supporting fire-warriors. Stark breathed a sigh of relief, but his face held no joy as he turned to face the Kroot Carnivores emerging from the trees of the overgrown park. Activating the thumb switch, Stark's ancient weapon crackled to life. His power-sword ablaze, he braced himself for the creatures brutal assault. "Emperor guide my sword," Stark offered a short prayer to the emperor. For a moment he considered how many heretics and aliens had died at this weapon's edge; he planned to add to the total.

The devastator squad was relentless. With the missile and the plasma-cannon they fired salvo after salvo into the Tau battle line, thinning the enemy numbers with each definitive strike. Suddenly, a white hot flash illuminated the devastator squad. A third crisis suit had worked its way forward and opened fire with it's heavy weapons from behind a stack of concrete sewer pipes. Disappearing behind cover far too quickly, Delta squad could facilitate no vengeance for their losses. Beta squad fared little better, advancing steadily they began falling victim to a prowling crisis suit far to the right of the main marine offensive. The fire-warrior squad ahead of Beta attempted to assist, but were held back by the devastator's relentless fire.

To all of this, Stark was completely oblivious. His more prominent concern was the voracious Kroot and their vicious hounds currently seeking to rip out his innards. For a time, Stark was confident his men would emerge victorious. But underestimating the ferocity of the Kroot hounds; he found himself fighting completely alone, surrounded by the hideous aliens consuming the flesh of his fallen comrades. Overcome by rage, Stark lashed out with his power sword killing Kroot with every swing. But Stark was clearly outnumbered. Steeling himself to fight to the bitter end, Stark prepared to sell his life in final service of the emperor.

Fortunately for the grizzled veteran, the timely arrival of Tactical squad Alpha proved to be as much a surprise to the Kroot as they were to Stark himself. With brutality commendable, Alpha squad finished the Kroot off in mere seconds; leaving Stark breathing heavily with precious moments to call the company apothecary. "Report," Stark barked to the tactical Sargent. "Sir, devastators report heavy enemy infantry casualties and the destruction of one armored battle-suit. Sir." "Excellent work, engage remaining enemy infantry, I'll handle the second battle-suit."

The Xenos soldier practically never saw the blows that killed him. Using his jump pack, Stark dropped down from above the ruined building the tau was using as cover. With superhuman reflexes, he slashed in a cross-pattern with his power sword killing his foe before Stark had even touched the ground from his jump. Observing similar success from Tactical squad Alpha, he voxed the devastators to target the remaining fire-warriors and provide covering fire for the battered Tactical squad Beta. One final challenge remained, the third and final battle-suit that had been harassing the devastators from behind heavy cover. Using his jump pack, Stark quickly covered ground between himself and his opponent. The tau obviously heard the marine approaching but did not have enough time to attempt shooting the veteran out of the air. Landing un-gracefully, Stark swung wildly with his exotic weapon. The battle-suit-clad alien dodged Stark's poorly aimed attack, jumping into the air with his own jet device he fired downward at Stark with close ranged plasma fire.

For the briefest of moments, Stark regarded the Tau with a great respect. His force was defeated and scattered, but not a single one of the aliens had fled or shown cowardice. The Xenos was willing to sell his own life to cover the retreat of the larger Tau force, not unlike Stark himself was willing to do earlier against the Kroot warriors. Perhaps these great protectors of the Tau were not so different from the great Space Marines of Humanity? Stark rolled sideways and exploded upward, stabbing the alien in the abdomen and slicing upward out toward the shoulder. The body fell limply to the ground as Stark removed his helmet, "BAH!" Stark spat on his fallen foe.

"Such is the fate of all Xenos scum!" Stark activated his vox-unit. "Forward Command: Mission successful, rearguard eliminated. Brother Stark Awaiting Orders."

Very nice fluff though I am saddened to hear that my brethren fell to your vile imperial forces.

It was certainly a "solid" victory. Not a single tau failed any morale of any sort, and that's without the assistance of either a commander or an ethreal. Pretty impressive really. But it did them little good because this game featured THE WORST round of shooting that I have ever seen in all my years playing this game. almost everything rapid fired, one shot hit, which failed to wound. I was dumbfounded. I've never seen anyone have such a terrible shooting phase, and it's TAU! They NEED the shooting phase to go well.

holy crap that's bad josh!! pretty speechless in relation to that bad rolling though with rapid fire ouch. i should probably put up a de fluff when i have time whenever that is.
