This is why I try to ignore the rules in 40k as often as humanly possible. The most fun I've ever had was my first game ever against a gentleman at the meeting (i cannot remember his name for the life of me) but he knew as little about the rules as I did. So we just made stuff up that made sense at the time, all in all, best game I ever played.
