Wow...that looks horrible...you guys have a huge 8-16 inches in between your battle lines less than that on some other tables. Looks like a sucky GW event. To bad about not winning though guys.
Thanks for trying though.

ya the downers grove/naperville area is one of the richest areas in Illinois. Not far from downers grove is palos park which is supposed to be one of the richest cities in the country. I definitely would believe these people have expendable incomes.
i'm kind of glad I didnt go as we had to clean up the apt all day. also, I would just be frickin pissed at how gw organized it besides all the cheese that went down (come on 4+ super heavies for one guy!?!?! does he spend his entire income on frickin forgeworld shit!?! makes us normal gamers look better at least). goes to show, whomever spends the most money for the hobby will win. i think that would get soooo boring after a while just annhilating every opponent.
and that kid that bought the tank case... what a douche!! he lost big time and basically spent $150 for nothing.
another failed gw event. luckily we are all going to gamesday or else i wouldn't go as they plan events terribly.

Well, it was a totally unconventional event. So fairness was totally not to be expected. It was organized fairly well, but way more people than expected showed up. I mean heck, the old record was completly obliterated.

Actually, the guy that bought the tank case that we faced got 2nd place, and still got a bio-titan. So he really didn't lose, which sucks.

That's awesome that the U.S. takes up the record, but that's really really fucked up when it comes down to an entire college club being out outgunned by single people. Though, I hope to one day become one of those rich assholes who can buy anything he wants cause he DID go to college.

We said "Hi Manchester, we just broke your record! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! USA! USA! USA!"
We are displayed at:
2:30. I am ducking under the table to put books away I assume, while all our stuff is there. Sweet.

God, I can't verbalize all the reasons I hate Games Workshop. Play Warmachine.

correction, 40k is crap (as shown by the stupid operation citadel), fantasy is an awesome game. warmachine is just a souped up version of 40k with better options. not a shabby game nonetheless.

Wow, you sure haven't played Warmachine if it seems like' souped up 40K.' I am just relieved to play a system where every game doesn't pivot on some retarded rule loophole like, "Oh, your mounted general can't pivot his head to have more than a 90 degree field of vison, so he gets charged by five goblins that do no damage, but cause him to flee and over run him." You know what I am talking about.

well if you roll shitty that is sure what will happen. but then again, they have to make the game interesting somehow instead of just mindless rolling to hit and wound. if overrun wasnt a rule then you can have the craziest unit mopping up the whole table in combat where the entire army charges and cant do shit but get killed.
if you really think about it though there are similarities to 40k. movement, shooting, assault, armor penetration, squad based. that's what i meant by souped up as I agree it's much better than 40k, but then again i think hi-ho cheerio is better than 40k so there's really no comparison.

In that any one sci-fi miniature game is like another sci-fi miniature game, yes, they are similar. They both contain the concept of armor, shooting, etc. Yes. On a fundamental level, every miniature game is the same.
Where Warmachine differs is in it's innovative system (essentially a 2D6 system), turn structure, and overall focus on gameplay. That is where it is improved dramatically over 40K. The superiority fo Privateer Press over GW aside, Warmachine is simply a better game on evey level.

Hey Adam, as I'm sure you've already guessed I never got around to ordering my Cygnar guys that week, but I'm planning to order them this weekend. I lost that list of guys you told me to get though, do you remember which ones you suggested? I wanted to use Allister Caine and then I think you told me to get an apprentice warcaster, a gunmage and...that's all I remember.

40k has it's merits. I enjoy it a lot, but I will say that it has way too many loopholes that can be exploited and when someone finds one, everyone else and their grandma uses it. I don't mind the rules...a game has set rules, you just try to win within whatever the limitations are...it's the terrible wording that GW uses and inconsistent writing that annoys me.
I think the one real thing Warmachine has over Warhammer is that fact that one lucky/unlucky roll won't win/lose you the game. I don't know how many times one shot in a game of warhammer basically determined the game.
