I went to Adepticon this weekend and it was a ton of fun. There were seminars (that I didn't care about) and painting classes (that I didn't go to) and plenty of gaming to be had. To be honest, I did only go on Sunday to play in the BFG championships, and I came in 5th out of 14! Not bad for not having played since last spring. As for the 40k...I wouldn't suggest it. Too much craziness when you've got 400 people in one room. Fantasy was quite a bit better, while BFG was the best in my opinion. Pretty much everyone was there to just have some fun games of BFG since it is such a specialist game. They were running demos of Aeronautica, and I read through the book. It looks good, but I don't think I'll pick it up. The shopping is a highlight too. Forgeworld, Black Library, and Gale Force 9 were there to provide good stuff (GF9 had a whole wall of EVERYTHING). Josh would've been interested in all the Warhammer Historicals that were available. Entrance fees weren't terrible. It was $25 to get in the door, and that got me a LE Renegade Standard Bearer, a pylon from the BfM game, and a GF9 tactical template. It was then $15 to play in BFG, so total I spent $40, not including toll fees. They say that you must eat the hotel food, but I contemptuously disregarded that and brought a lunch. All in all a good experience.

Yeah from all the boards i frequent Adepticon is considered to be the premier club games workshop thing and i have heard it passes up games day by a ton. Shit the price alone makes it better than gamesday. Adepticon=40$ for entry and tournament.
Games Day= 50$ for entry and I believe I heard almost a hundred if you want to be in the tournament...
its kinda sad when clubs run better events than the company putting out the product.

A hundred dollars for a tournament? I suppose that's how they weed out all the casuals.
