Last year I played an ork player on a swamp table at GW Gurnee. 2000 pts, and going in I thought it would be only 1750. Luckily I brought along this bad boy: And brought my total points up to 1920 or something like that. So I was still down, but it was all good. This is more or less what the map looks like: I deployed on one short side, he on the other, so we played longways. Most of my men took cover in the swamp while my heavies took to the hill on my side and the rhino plonked it's heavy metal ass on one side road. He came at me, being orks and all, and while I lost a few men, my tank made a real mess of things. He had 9 Killa Kans and maybe a dreadnought (not sure, it was a while ago), but he clustered them all together. One shot from my VDR tank (earthshaker cannon rules) obliterated 3 Kans and damaged another 2. He eventually got close enough to destroy my rhino and it became a convienent roadblock he couldn't get around, and was shot to death. Overall victory for me, with few casualties and good fun had.

Just so I'm not confused about what's going on here...
Is that a rhino with an EARTHSHAKER on it? Sounds like a battle I would have liked to see. And gurnee would have been local for me too.

Yes, it's a heavily converted rhino. Actually not, I simply stuck a few pieces that looked good and made sense on it. It's a crazy piece made from the Vehicle Design Rules in Chapter Approved 2004, costing 185 points.
Oh yea, I'm about 30 min from Gurnee as well. We can continue the club there over summer!

That thing will make short work of necrons or anything imho.

But lo! It doesn't need to get past you. If it is set for indirect fire, you won't even be able to see it raining death from the skies!

The earthshaker is a fantastic weapon to use against Necrons. It can wail down on troops pretty well. Also, Ordinance weapons are the only weakness of the Monolith tank. So yeah! Hit those Necrons where it hurts!
...please don't shoot my necrons with an earthshaker ......pretty please? .........pretty please with a ressurection orb on top?

Direct fire gives me a range of 10', or 120". Indirect gives me a range of 20', or 240". Like either will ever be truly needed in their entirety.
Redsparrow, I'll play games without it. If I want to try it once or twice, I'll throw it in, but it won't be the first thing on my list.

Yea. People cry cheese or unfluffy when I want to use it, or say I should just go start Imperial Guard. If they want cheese, then I'll take a Damocles rhino and get a str10 ap1 ordance template. Or maybe 3. If they want fluffy, then I say it's a refit under pressing conditions. Marines are always doing that. Codex goes only so far. Sometimes they are forced, as in the creation of the Annihilator. As for starting IG, well, I really don't want to right now. Even if I did it probably wouldn't have any Basilisks anyways. Leman Russes are my style tanks!

I have no problem with that tank, and cheese and what not is for losers or people with no since of fun.
