Okay... My obligatory mocking of new models... Skorne Ferox Okay, there is something just... off about these guys. There are not BAD sculpts, per say, just strange. The posing is just wierd and unnatural, and the faces on the riders look bizarre. The cats look like they were designed by Napoleon Dynamite. Just odd. Plus, sabertooth tigers just seem a little too dexterous to ride. I can't see putting a saddle on one. Everblight Raptors- I actually think the elk are really well sculpted. The riders don't look bad either. Unfortunately, one can tell they were sculpted completely independantly of one another. The riders do not seem to "interact" with the mounts- they are just kind of perched there. One guys even has his face buried in the Elk's rack. Piss poor design. Plust, they are called fucking Raptors. Elk are not raptors. Birds or sweet dinosaurs are called raptors. I suppose if they were riding velociraptors, they would just be Dark Elf COld One riders.

I never got the whole raptor thing either...if they look like elk...call them elk...seems simple enough...but since everblight is all dragony...i guess a dinosaurish name (cause dinosaurs and dragons are the same thing) makes complete sense.

raptor is actually the name of the warriors that ride the ulks..or demon reindeer as they're depicted

For the same reason you don't call dragoons "Guys Who Get Off Their Horses." Gotta give 'em some pizazz. "Raptor" is probably being used to suggest that they're a quick, agile striking unit. Several of the guys at PP have a thing for intentionally misusing / stretching words from classical languages. Raptor is from Latin, so.

Yeah it is from latin...it means plunderer or robber. Still doesnt make it any better to me...call them Evil Elves Who Ride Demon Reindeer....cause then I know what they are...also Dragoons should be called "Guys Who Get Off Their Horses." As this would help people who dont know what they are know exactly what they are. I am not one for spicing up unit names...call 'em what they are.
musketeers...you know they have muskets...easy enough
Dragoons...I know what they are and what not but it just looks like someone misspelled "dragons"...I would be more scared of dragons...personally...they should have just left it as Dragons.
I dunno I am done being an ass...not trying to ruffle feathers just f'in around.
