You might not all know but I am the current secretary of N.I.M.G.C and I would like to ask for some input from all of you. We plan on doing 3 in club tournies this semester. These will be free to all members and there will be some sort of prize support,TBA. We are looking at a doubles tourny for 40k no date is set as of yet, approx pts will be between 500-750 per player.
Do any of you have ideas for Warmachine or warhammer fantasy. I will take any suggestions here on the board, through pm and or of course in person at club.

Don't forget to include things for the 40k tournament like shared FOC's. Nothing is more aggravating than four HQ's coming at you in 1000-1500 games...
Also consider a prize for best team, like the most fluffy to be together. Or make it a requirement that allies can only be what makes sense. No chaos and Necrons, for instance.
Why not make every tournament a doubles? In supports social bonding in the group. Makes us one whole team, as it were.

the whole point of a doubles is to have two FOCS. At the points mentioned i dont think OP hqs will be a problem just say no special chars.
Also i would have to say that anyone can team up with anyone, who cares about why they are doing it they just are.
the only problem with doubles is the amount of team that can be able to be done. A good tourny would need about 8 teams, thus 16 people (I can do math!) other than that i would say doubles would be great.

At club tonight I'll try to get a head count for who wants to play in the 40k doubles thing. If anyone on here wants to try to make it out, we can make it a thursday that works well for as many people as we can. Anyone that isn't at the Dekalb meetings that wants to come out though, let me know on here and i'll add you to the list.

A Warmachine tournament would be nice again we havent had one of those in a while. I would say just go normal steamroller tournament if you do Warmachine but keep points at 500 so newer players can also participate.
Fantasy doubles tournament would be cool.

I've actually seen many very good tournaments that use a shared FOC, especially at these low-point games, so that's why I suggested it. It actually works better anyway. By the time you each get to your 1 HQ and 2 Troops, your half of the army is pretty much filled. By having shared FOC it allows for all the fun stuff.
We might want to do it on a weekend so more out of towners can attend. I can pretty much take any day off anyway because I'm awesome like that, but I figure others might have a harder time of it.

@ Andrew, Im going to have to say no to combined force orginzation charts, I really do not want to see someone maxing out there heavy slots..........We have decided on first place team, all or nothing. It will be club t's for the pair, of course you may customize them like any other time.
This is what we have so far:
Start time 6 O'clock approximate ending time Midnight 750pts per person 1500 per side. Normal Force orgination charts. No proxies, WYSIWYG(What You See Is What You Get), everything must be represented. So far we have 10 people from the DeKalb chapter interested. Day TBA, will be on a club thursday.

so we are using two independent force organization charts per two player team then? I think I would actually prefer a shared organization chart myself at such a relatively low point level game. Although considering the WYSIWYG mentality It means I'm going to have to rip my models apart (which is retarded) or play at a disadvantage (I'm referring to my Tau Fire Knife Crisis Suits and the armaments on my Monstrous Creatures). Would this also mean say in the case of a Devilfish that I would actually have to have the smart missile system represented in place of the Gun Drones? Couldn't I just not put Gun Drones on? It's the same effect because the Devilfish comes either with Gun Drones or Smart Missiles (it's either/or, there is no option to go naked) and I only have 1 set of Smart Missile racks from the Skyray box I acquired a ways back.

Wah Wah Wah Wah. You're using two seperate FOC's per player per team. WYSIWYG. Everyone will manage. One way or another.

Ya sorry about that if it is close enough it should be find but to keep reminding your opponent about magical things on your stuff that is not really there but is, is really annoying.
Since the competition is for prizes we are playing it officially, hey at least we are not requiring you to have a painted based army....

With Tyranids and WYSIWYG:
Does a Broodlord have to have Feeder Tendrils represented on the model even though there is no model piece for it?
Can Warriors be proxied as Lictors (same base size) if there are no other warriors in the army? They look practically the same.
I assume scuttler and expanded carapace are fine with naked looking stealers, but what about flesh hooks or feeder tendrils? Anyone who ever opened a gaunt or genestealer box knows there's like 2/3 variable heads and most are one piece models as far as the head goes. further more there are no flesh hook models for genestealers and i'm not looking forward to the prospect of ruining well painted minis (the ones Adam did) or my own (not quite finished lol) with my horrible sculpting skills... so if the entire genestealer army had the exact same upgrades, is it ok just to run them looking like gene stealers? I can understand issues if different squads were equipped differently, but otherwise it seems reasonable.

I can answer that one for you, and I'm sure our board will agree.
Biomorphs are acceptable if not modeled, such as feeder tendrils, bio-plasma, tocin sacs, etc. Just make sure you have a typed out army list so peeps can see what you have. It's like grenades for marines or other armies, or iron halos and such. Small things are okay.
Weapon symbiotes absolutely have to be WYSIWYG, there is no getting around that.
Hive mind powers are obviously okay if not WYSIWYG. Can't model something in the mind.
They said no proxies, so I'd have to agree no proxies (they do look a bit different). I know your plan, with feeder tendrils, as that's the kind of army I'd like to have for Tyranids as well. But warriors are oh so good...blast weapons that don't need to roll to hit? See if you can scrounge up those, as I'd highly suggest them with 5th edition. And make everything in synapse still? Awesomesauce.

ya know I had similar thoughts about Warriors in that respect myself and that's even how I used them whenever I did use them in 4th edition; problem is that I need more than 3 Warriors and not paying $35 for 3 . Thanks a lot for answering my questions I can leave Lictors outa a potential WYSIWYG list and swap stealers cause the theme is to have everything start off the board so if warriors made the list... they'd die hilariously

Genestealers so have a Flesh Hook head, they use the tongue, cheeky buggers, so you could model em with it, but theres the same problem of only getting a few per box o' stealers.

They also have a feeder tendrils head, so if you upgrade with both, what do you do? heh.

Actually Feeder Tendrils and Flesh Hooks cannot be used together for exactly that reason; they both come on a special head to be used with a special genestealer model of which there are only a few per box. Not terribly bright in retrospect of GW, but even in the codex I cannot take frag grenades and preferred enemy at the same time, only either/or . They're Genestealers if I want point sinks let me point sink damnit!

What about some Warmachine/Hordes tournaments? For those few people who don't own any GW stuff.
