Andrew-Nicole Team Awesome.
Of course you can, Adam! Make up a quick "counts-as": all jacks are dreadnoughts of some kind, any creature on a large base is a monstrous creature of some kind, and anything else makes you win automatically!

We may have to start a little bit later. Delso doesn't get around until after work til sometime between 6-7, or we can just give his team a buy for the first round. Bill and I are a team.

We don't have to give by's. Just have one person control the whole army until he gets there. By's are dumb except for odd people. I may have the same problem, as Nicole get's off work later too.

I'd like to reserve a spot.
I've also got a question as to how turns are going to work (never played a 2v2 game before)... does each team take their turn as a whole, i.e. shared movement, shooting, assault phases... or do we take turns separately and rotate as in Team1Player1, Team2Player1, Team1Player2, Team2Player2?
Also, for clarification, if my teammate has a unit in combat but none of my own units are involved, can I shoot into that combat using the rules for the 3-way game in the 5th ed. rulebook? (roll a die for each hit, 4+ it hits my target otherwise it hits my teammate)
Finally, putting in my .02, I agree that letting one player control the whole team is vastly preferable to giving out bye's.
Really looking forward to this tournament! Should be a lot of fun!
Thanks! -John B.

1. Turns are shared, so you and your teammate do stuff at the same time. Move, shoot, assault all shared. Think like it's a normal game but two people are controlling your army instead of one.
2. Interesting...I was going to say no off the bat but having read the rule for it (pg 273) I really like it. You'd also have to remember that the combatants hit might get cover saves, depending on their position in the combat; nay lets just make it that they do get them from all direct fire weapons, but not blast or ordnance weapons. I like that. 5+ cover. That's how I'll rule it in any of my games at least. Could lead to some interesting tactics...

first you want to melee my Tau, and now you want to shoot them in melee on top of that? . Nifty rule that'll be fun to play out.

Feh. They'll crumple in melee so I don't have to worry about needing to shoot them too.

Greetings all,
@adam, sorry no warmachine they are too awesome and would be rather unfair cuz warmachine would rock 40k's world.
@john, and Andrew, Andrew is correct on how the turns work, but shooting into combat is a no go, that is for 3 way games not team games, no sacrificing your allies for the greater good, sorry.

Im not leaving my army laying around. Are you even coming Andrew? ...
I get off work at 5 and it takes 45 minutes to get home. Usually I have to deal with the dog as Jessie has class at 6. So I can be there by 6:15 hopefully.
Depending on the amount of people that show, not all will have a table in the first round anyways. As is, the downstairs is first come first serve, including magic players. So if they are using a card table, we can't use it to play.

Btw -> Adam: Fantasy tournament was that following weekend, however canceled due to the time we had to give notice to people.
I want to run a sort of WM type campaign. We should get together and plan it out dude.

Wait, so we lost the priviledge of having the downstairs to ourselves? How'd you guys screw that one up? They get FNM to hoard all the tables, and frequently one weekend day is another thing for them.
Yea I'll be there, and Nicole will be too.

So let me get this straight and please correct any misunderstandings I have... On a Thursday evening, card players/club get to use the tables that are NIMGC's because it's miniature gaming night, even when we're hosting a double's tournament??! How'd that happen? I mean I have nothing against Magic or card playing (looks fun), but shouldn't we get priority over tables if we need them because it's a Thursday?

If someone lets John know in advance that we're planning a tournament for that night, along with some idea of how many teams will be attending, I'd imagine he'd set aside a few tables for us.

Thursdays night is minis night at the shop. We haven't had a problem with the card gamers this semester even though John isn't specifically setting aside NIMGC only space. We'll have the room to play just like we do every week, and John said it's cool and that he'll keep the store open a bit later if we need more time. We do have some notion of how to run things here at the NIMGC. =)
