After a tweak and another test, Sean's Dark Elves were barely defeated by my VC. Once we start playing these scenarioes it might be a different story, but for now I'm definitely not feeling like a tier 1 army heh. Probably doesn't help that I don't play fantasy all that often...

Based on all of the crap I read, which is more time than I should waste during the week, it seems like DoC > DE > VC. Did you have fun? That is the bottom line.

The second scenario is causing me to exchange one model for another, nothing to huge, but just a tweek to have a better chance at controlling the tower.

Ok well here it is, as I promised. The third and final scenario for the Vanguard Tournament.

CHAPTER 3: Sever the head

Read the Entire Scenario Before Setting Up!

Battlefield: Terrain is preset. Hills are open ground. All Forests, buildings, and hills are considered large target sized: a large target behind an object may not be targeted except by a unit on high ground.

Game Length: Games will last Six turns or until time is called.

Who goes First: Deployment and who goes first are normal per BRB. Pg. 3.

Special Rules: Your generals know this is the final battle. To fail is to spell the doom of your people. Thus they are putting everything they have left into the fight. All army generals have a 5+ ward save. If the general flees it loses the ward save. The ward save cannot be combined with other ward saves. Also all units within 18” can use the general’s leadership.

Victory Conditions: Standard victory Points per BRB pg. 102
If you concede your opponent gets full battle points

Battle Point Modifiers:

+1 BP Enemy General is killed or Fleeing

+ 1 you have destroyed/fleeing all enemy units

-1 BP Your army general is Dead or Fleeing

Okay I'll definitely go with VC then! Question on the 3rd mission though:

WoC Mark of Tzeentch: "If the model has a ward save from another source then that ward save is increased by 1."

You're not combining ward saves, but this new one is affected by the Mark of Tzeentch. Thoughts?

@josh so I gotta ask, in the first mission what constitutes as a unit. Is there a distinction between rank and file units from monsterous choice like a giant or a steam tank.

@andrew - I think I am taking out the unit of pistoliers and putting in another cannon, still debating about taking the steam tank out for 2 more units of knights don't know which one is better.

@ian - Unit is exactly what the BRB pg.6 defines it as. Basically anything you have on the board is a unit...whether rank and file, monster, character , and etc.

@andrew - I will hopefully have an answer to your question by end of weekend.

This was a hard one for me to answer. I was torn on how to rule. In the spirit of how I originally wrote the rule though I am saying that this 5+ Ward save cannot be modified in any way. So the Mark Tzeentch will not change the Ward Save for scenario 3. People of course can take other ward saves and not use the 5+ Last Stand Ward Save for the scenario just indicate that to your opponent. You will still get the 18" bonus regardless of use of the Last Stand Ward Save.

Will the matches be played on a 6'x4' board? Saw this question, couldn't find the answer.

For the 2nd scenario, what if there are two units which are the largest in the army and have the same point total? Only reason I ask is my planned list for this tournament has this situation.

Yes the games will played on a 6 x 4 board.

In the scenario with bonus BP for killing/fleeing largest point enemy unit, they would have to kill one of these units. Since they are the same size in points it wont matter which one, just that they kill one of them.

Nice, at least I am not the only one! Also just realized a major rules flaw in my army list, so will need to rethink some things...

Sadly everyone I have to cancel the Vanguard tournament. I received an email from the location of the tournament and was informed that they had double booked the venue. Thus resulting in our tournament needing to be rescheduled or cancelled. I cannot be there on the reschedule dates. I am going to refund all those who preregistered through paypal. Once again I want to apologize to all those planning on attending. I was really looking forward to running this and having a great day. I will hopefully be able to run tournaments in the future (that don't get canceled due to magic events).

I will be donating to the Circuit King Series regardless of this. This charity event should not suffer due to bad scheduling. Therefore I will donate as if the tournament was full.

Once again I apologize to all those who pre-registered or were planning on attending.

Wow dude. That fucking blows.A goddamned Magic event trumped it, huh? Man, I would be kicking some ass. You have been prepping for this thing, gathering sponsors, etc, forever. Plus, Magic events are a fucking dime a dozen. Bullshit, I tells ya.

Vanguard was cancelled for a Magic event! Not your fault Josh so no ill will towards you. You have been putting in alot of time and effort and to have the store pull this crap only a few weeks before the event is garbage. Why can't they stay open late and run the Magic tournament after Vanguard?

Dont get me wrong everyone, I am also upset about this cause I have been putting a lot of time into it but sadly sometimes this is how the dice roll.

Do I agree with the decision of the store? No, I personally feel an upstairs/downstairs method should have been taken to appease both groups. Magic upstairs and on landing, Warhammer downstairs. Sadly that is not the way it is.

I am not upset with the owner of New Game though. He has a business to run and it is hard to keep a store like that in the black. Magic is his bestselling game, most of his money comes through that game. He made a simple mistake and accidentally double booked. He is human, we all make mistakes. Bear is a good guy and didnt do this on purpose. In the future I will try to host another tournament at this location. The sponsors have been great about this (2 out of 3 have already wrote me back) and told me to either keep the support for the next tournament or to contact them as soon as I want to run another and they will be on board again.
