Greetings to the NIU miniatures gaming club!
My name is Michael Smith, I'm a 2005 Alum of NIU, and I work at Hobbytown USA in Rockford, IL.
Just thought you guys might want to know about a few events we'll be holding here over the next few months.
Feb 25: Games Workshop RTT Warhammer tournament: 2,150pts, $5 fee
Feb 25: Games Workshop RTT Minature painting contest: all genres, no fee!
Mar 11: Games Workshop RTT Warhammer 40,000 tournament: 2,000 pts, $5 fee
Apr 01: Hobbytown USA National Spring Model contest: Any model, any genre, anything you built and painted!
Apr ??: Privateer Press Warmachine tournament: 500 pts, $5 fee
We also have free gaming on Wednesday nights, and our gaming stuff is 10% off!

a wee bit far away but if i can bum a ride i would so do the fantasy one....not sure about 40k 2000pts is a bit high for me

as did I...... rockford is hella hella far away. Almost in wisconsin so if someone would like to drive, I'm not raising my hand.

you guys must have no since in direction what so ever, this place is a 30 min drive north of west, so mostly west, gurnee is near wisconsin, roscoe is near wisconsin, i might do the 40k tourny, and so might luong(sorry sp?).

I was talking in relation to frankfort rockford is far away like 3 hours, from here it's still an hour and a half tops.

no rockford is 45 mins tops from here. I just went there today, you just have to know how to get there. yah from frankfort it is a long way away.

If you guys didnt' know, the weekend before (March 4th and 5th I believe) there's a 1750 40K tournament at the Battle Bunker. I'm gonna try to get into that too I think.

according to map quest it is only 50 minutes away really no farther than Battle Bunker...Just take 38 west to 39 north and it goes straight to rockford...exact directions I am not sure but it isnt to bad.

actually you just take annie glidden to cherryvalley rd to harrison to perryville and the to go to the place make a left on riverside and then make a left on alpine and you are there, 30 mins

I am not doing 40K...thinking about Fantasy but it would require me to get more empire knights done and also I suck so i dont know if i want to suck in a public spectacle.

true, my mom said she will give me the 5 bucks for the tourny so its free for me and she will play for my gas. its goign to rock i have no reason to not do it.

im in fo sho. i can't wait to actually compete against others. i really dont think we'll do bad we play a few games a week and some people in the club has been playing for over 5 years. we will see.

Well the 40k one is the day after my 21st so I might have a hang over....but like I said I would be willing to do both of them if i could get a ride...you know me have no car.......I will have to get some painting done on my 40k and find away to get 2,000.......I mean i only have like 1,200 painted yikes!!!! And none of them are based....

Since none of us have ever really been in many tournaments, if any at all, would it be possible for those of us not playing the the fantasy campaign to set up some kind of tournament format games for the next 2 or 3 meetings before march?
