Just curious to see if there is anyone out there who plays roleplaying games, you know, D&D, that kind of crap. While I don't particularly care for D&D itself, the d20 system is ok. I prefer the d10 games though. I've played a number of games from White Wolf www.white-wolf.com/ I really think that Exalted is cool. Anyone out there play?

I'm currently playing a Shadowrun game, played a solid d20 D&D campaign last semester, and will be running an Iron Kingdoms (Warmachine setting) d20 game next semester. I like RPGs a lot, but it's tough to find people that want to really play the same KIND of game that I do. I like a narrative, adventure-y game, whereas most d20 players are more interested in killin' monsters and gettin' treasure and most WW players are more interested in strictly character-based stuff. Not saying either approach is WRONG, it just makes it tricky to find a group that I really enjoy. The Shadowrun game I'm playing (which was almost a 40K-setting game) has been pretty fun. The GM has put together a solid campaign in which the PCs are well-motivated to work together and where the gameplay emphasis is on decision making, not just stats or overly-deep roleplaying. Unfortunately, I'm heading out of the country for a month after this week, so I'll be missing a big chunk of game. I haven't had a chance to play Exalted, but I like the art and the overall concept of it. The anime-style superpower concept isn't really my thing, but the mythology of the world is pretty cool. And, man, do the books look good. I'm currently knee-deep in trying to tear the guts out of the d20 system and replace them something that de-emphasizes stat-tweaking and dice-rolling and focuses on narrative gameplay and more "logical" mechanics. The modular design of it is a lot of fun in that sense. If your group is willing to try out house rules, it's pretty easy to plug in variant systems.

I am actually playing in a fantasy GURPS system. I prefer the D6 system to other systems.
I prefer the adventure type games too...which is why I game with the guys I do cause I knoe they are more interested in that too.

I'm a D&D fan...sometimes had good campaigns, other times it was kill stuff and make a good/funny story out of it. Like once my buddy (a dwarf fighter) tripped while getting to the edge of a river, so he fell in a floated downstream for a while. It was late, and we laughed over that for a good long time. We had mini's too, so that's especially why we laughed, because it looked so goofy how we did it. Ahhh...memories.

I like the GURPS system. Then again it is the only one that I have ever really played. LOTR sounds cool and so does Star Wars (As I am huge fans of both).

RPG's are a fickle thing. Very hard to come up with good storyies. Lots of fun but once again you have to agree with and have the same kind of humor as your comrades. I've played some, Vampire, D&D, plenty of varying scenario D8 and D10 system games and Exalted(WHOOOT!). I think most people like making then killing their characters more than playing them enough to be good with them and making them grow.
But, there's nothing wrong with that necessarily. If you ever need a spare guy who won't fire aimlessly into the dark and Always be a good fighter with a big sword you can send me a message and I'll see if I can help.

Hmm...I'll try GURPS....sounds so much like something to do with the digestion system or something, hahaha.
Otherwise I'm always up for a good D&D campaign...I'm another person that plays to advance the character and make stories, not to stupid crap.

Hey guys I got some maps drawn and a basic story line built. So maybe start working on your characters...you will have 100pts to work with to build your characters. Refer to earlier site to get Lite version of book and make character...I am also sure you could find the whole book on the internet for download somewhere. It is Fantasy, pre-gunpowder, I am allowing magic.
I might make a trip to the comic store in town to see if they carry any of the supplementary books to...
