I've been asking around and there's been a lot of interest in a summer tourney for those of us staying in Dekalb (or those willing to drive). But why stop at just having a tournament? Well, we're not. Not only will this be a fully fleshed out tournament, it will also be a BBQ. All of the details will be worked out in a more official thread. Please post here to show your support. ...And get ready to kill while you grill!

Give me a date and I will see what I can do!
Any idea on the format?

I think it'd be fun to swap Elites and Troops on the FOC, with Elites as scoring and not Troops, but that's just me...
It'd allow for excessive slaughter and kinda prep for Planetstrike.

I am totally up for this.
I will help plan, fund, and orgnanize if you need help cause I doubt I will have anything ready to play in a tournament by the time you do it.

How about 1000 points CoD format? Do the medium level so each player gets two stratagems, and they need to be the same for all three games.
The elite/troop swap may break the game.

CoD would be fantastic, actually. We have plenty of buildings, and I have plenty more. Caleb and I did that style of tournament once, and it was rather fun. 4x4 tables also keeps things intense.

Well, sounds like the gears are turning. We'll get more concrete stuff running, but CoD sounds good. Andrew, you'll have to let me borrow the book on that....I'm just assuming you have it because you have everything! =D

This is the part now where I pray that the tournament is not on June 27-28 or July 17-19. I LOVE Cities of Death. LOVE IT... LOVE IT... LOVE IT... I am getting all warm and fuzzy and it's not because of the vodka I have been drinking.
My vote for good dates would be July 11th, July 25 or any of the first three Saturdays in August.
Let me know if you need an example of using CoD in a tournament format. I still have everything from K'Wars: The Consuming Darkness.

My vote is for august or June if we are doing weekends. July is very crowded for me...with Games Day and Tailgating at chicagoland.

August weekend 7-8 is no good for me. I'd be fine with late June though.
Heck, I'll even help ya plan it Friz! I've got some great ideas to run by you. And yes, I do have everything. Pack rat!

Sounds cool, but anytime in June or July would be preferable to August as I wont be around then in all likelihood.

I keep the CoD book with my tyranids at the shop. I don't mind anyone looking through it as long as it stays in the shop and you put it back when you're through.
As far as CoD for the tourney... Sounds great to me. The big concern is that we have enough terrain for all of the people who want to play if this is a public tourney. If it's club only, then I think we'll be ok.
Perhaps an E-board meeting on the subject is not out of question?

June 28th is my only day that I will absolutely not make it...and Rios, and Frizzy shouldn't be able to make it that day as well. They know why.

Guys, I have a suggestion lets up the points to 1700pts a round. Leave the organizational chart alone in the sense troop are troop elites are elites and so forth. Here is where go back to a little of the old School which should make some people think out side the box a little. No special characters. Example Daemons can not use Fateweaver or epidemus, Eldar can't use Eldrad, Orcs can't use Grazull ( i know it misspelled), Space Marine Vulkan and so on. This is when you had to learn your armies for what they were not what combination works the best plus armies now get a little more verity.
Or another possibility is a escalation battle 1st round 1000pts 2nd round 1350pts and the 3rd round 1700pts. all army list must be submitted to the judge for review and a copy to keep with each bump up listed A and the other B. You as the player get to decide which round you bring in A or B. Now you can say with or without special characters as additional favor to the tounament.
I know this is the most people have seen me write on here but guys there is other ways to bring flavor to a tournament then always messing with the organizational chart. Well these are my suggestions.

It was just a crackpot idea in the thought of planetstrike is all.
Escalation would be a little more difficult with CoD tables (4x4) in mind, at least with 1700 points. Maybe if it's 1000-1250-1500 it'd be a bit easier.
I do agree with the "no special characters" bit. So many people only use them, and some armies simply don't have them. Variety is the spice of life...I'd be super happy to see no armies with special characters. Perhaps allow them, but then give massive docks if you have one or something.
