Could we do pods like Fantasy? Basically open 8 slots, if they sell out, that is one tournament. Open another 8 slots and repeat? Don't want to go crazy, but if it is easier to do 2 8 man tournaments at the same time, I am game. Don't know the community so trying to get a feel.

Also, what local forums would be good for posting?

I suppose that would work...then the 8 persons could be three rounds and go the normal times... www.pegasusgames.comthis is the store that hosted the last big tournament that we went too...im sure their group could make it too and they have forums..the privateer press forums are always good

Well let me ask you Rio, which would you rather see multiple 3 rounds of 8 players or one 16 player tournament with 4 rounds?
Would an entry fee of $15.00 be too much?

Found these rules from another store... Thoughts?
This is going to be a 20 pt, Modified Highlander/1x1x1x1 tournament under Steamroller rules. What this means is:
20 pts plus your Warjack/Warbeast points.
Your list must include at LEAST 1x Warcaster/Warlock, 1x Warjack/Warbeast, 1x Unit and 1x Solo. You may spend any remaining points on whatever you like.
Further, for this event, we will be using the Thundercliff Peaks rules still. This means seasonal models are still in play, stratagems are still fair game, as are map bonuses. You will also still be earning league points so we can have last minute upsets to the league winner!
It has been asked about how Battle Engines fit into this event. Battle Engines are an entirely new model TYPE. This means they are not a warcaster/warlock, warjack/warbeast, unit or solo. This means you still need to fulfill those four requirements. However, if your Battle Engine is released and you have the points left after fulfilling those requirements, then yes, Battle Engines are LEGAL.
And for the record, any theme force or Battle Engine or new release is ALWAYS legal upon its street date.
THIS IS A ONE LIST EVENT!
Registration starts at 10am. First match starts at 11am. This will be three rounds wrapping up before the store closes at 5pm.
Prizes will be Steamroller Coins and more!
Please register below if you will be in attendance!

the highlander idea isn't bad at all. I ran one not too long ago and people seemed to like it...be easier on the painting as well. Just wouldn't use the league stuff he mentions...then it would be 60 min rounds so it would still be OK if you went 4 rounds with 16 people..games would probably never go to time anyways. but 20 pts doesnt work..it would have to be 15 or 25...
15 pts is probably the better bet...i ran one like that and people seemed to like it

that works but 25 pts is hard to fill with just one of each..they would have to be allowed multiples of things like solos and stuff to get to 25 pts and then it would just be a regular 25 pt list...i think 15 pts would work better if you want it to be true highlander. i would also allow 1 light jack/beast for hordes cause they need at least 2 beasts to be effective because of the way the fury mechanic works

With the highlander format, what happens to the folks once they loss a game?

its basically swiss..you get one pt for a win, none for a loss, then theres a whole bunch of tie breakers if people tend to tie which i doubt, people will just be going for assassinations..I can help you pick scenarios as well...

Can you give me an example of the rules write-up?

ok so it would be
20 pt armies 1 warcaster/warlock 1 heavy jack/beast 1 light jack/beast 1 unit + attachment 1 solo
so for example an army i would do for one of my factions is
Lylith +6 (warlock) Ravagore -10 (heavy warbeast) Bolt Thrower -6 (light warbeast) lanissa rysaal -4 (solo) Raptors -6 (unit) comes to 26 pts
warcasters/warlocks add their own pts on top of the 20 standard

My contact from Privateer is saying the following,
"You could easily run a 16 player 35pt. SR2011 tournament in that time slot."
You guys are the local experts, which would go better for a first time event?

No, Jason is the Special Event/Organized Play Coordinator. I am working with Jen to secure the Press Ganger.
Sounds like we will go with 35 pts and 1 hour blocks.
